Me and DH were playing around on the Kinder app and one of our few matches was Scout. DH had never even considered it and the more he thinks about it the more he loves it. I feel like hormones have made me slightly insane around names.

So what does the mumsnet jury think?

Nope. Sounds a bit like Snout or Trout and it's not really a name so comes across as "we're soooo special".

It's a nickname in the book and IMO should be a nickname in real life too. It's a nice nickname.

I like the sound of it, but personally I cannot imagine walking into a job interview as an adult - for any job - and introducing myself as Scout. It's a cute nn though, I used to know a little Scarlett who was nn Scout, she'll be about 20 now so not sure if she still goes by it!

I think Jean Louise is rather underrated. Scout, not so much.

Absolutely love it. She’s one of my heroines and I’ve always wanted to use it. Beautiful. Strong, ballsy yet feminine.

Horrendous, sorry. Celebrities can get away with it as they don't live the usual day to day life, but for us normal peeps it could make life difficult.

I'm not too keen, but then I tend to lean towards more traditional (some may say boring) names
