Torn with these two names

My DH and I are expecting DD in about 4 weeks and I’m torn between the two names, he likes both so is no help 😫😫
Adelaide Grace or Ellis James
I know Ellis is traditionally a boys name but I knew a girl called Ellis and she was just the most beautiful person and James is after my brother I didn’t like Jamie and I’m not concerned about it being feminine.
But I genuinely love Adelaide Grace as it’s not very common but I worry about it being too out there to be considered sensible!
TIA

I know a girl called Ellis and a girl called James. I think they both sound a bit 1970s to me though.

Both are lovely, but prefer Adelaide Grace. You could wait until you meet her to decide, we did this with dd.

Ellis with James is too much for a girl. She’ll have to live with it not you,

So Adelaide Grace.

Are you aware of the comedian Elis James? Just reminds me of him.

TooTightJeans · 11/12/2018 02:54

Adelaide James?

You need to think about your baby and their life when they aren't a baby. You might not care about them having a masculine name but they might care.

I personally had the opposite problem. My daughter had a super feminine name (Luna) but was very masculine by nature. She hated her first name but luckily had a more gender neutral middle name that she could go by. If her middle name had been yet something like Daisy she would have been fucked. Same is true with your second name, two masculine names will screw her over if she is super girly. Choose one and then give her a neutral middle name.

Personally not a fan of giving girls boy's names!

Cheesenacho123 · 11/12/2018 02:30

Adelaide Grace sounds completely normal to me and very lovely and not wacky or ā€˜too out there’ at all unlike - north, kitt, klay, saint, dream, Stormi, lazer, dusty rose, reign, bear, apple, blue, or Kulture. All celeb/footballers children who I think have had silly made up names. They are in my top 15 names I’d never ever use even if you paid me billions.

Absolutely love Adelaide Grace!
