Thoughts on the name Atlas?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wildewillow · 09/12/2018 09:20

I love it! It's my sons middle name. Atlas was a Greek Titan celestial god !

HappyGoLuckyGo · 08/12/2018 23:31

I got Atlas suggested as an alternative to a name I mentioned on here! You can’t win, OP. I personally don’t like it- the “tl” doesn’t do much for me.

MissMalice · 08/12/2018 20:57

I like the name but wouldn’t burden a child with it.

Topseyt · 08/12/2018 20:56

Horrible. Sorry.

Is your child going to carry the world on his head/shoulders?

peachypetite · 08/12/2018 20:42
Confused
Sophronia · 08/12/2018 20:42

I really like it, but it is a bit out there.

SardineJam · 08/12/2018 20:36

I think it's nice actually

KismetHardie · 08/12/2018 20:32

It is absolutely a name in the same way that Achilles, Diana, Hector etc are names. Atlas the type of book is named after Atlas the (legendary) figure, not the other way around.

abcriskringle · 08/12/2018 19:05

Love! Everyone mn hates it though- I've posted about it before.

JudasPrudy · 08/12/2018 19:04

It is not a name.

KatherinaMinola · 08/12/2018 19:04

We then ran into an Atlas at a baby group.

That must've hurt.

DPotter · 08/12/2018 19:02

A resounding No from me

alansleftfoot · 08/12/2018 18:53

Dictionary?

KismetHardie · 08/12/2018 18:50

Attila is a Hungarian name, if that's their heritage then fine.

Don't take my advice on baby names though, I know 3 grown men called Merlin-and a skewed sense of what's reasons

DreamsofJacaranda · 08/12/2018 18:04

I’m not keen, sorry.

How about Thesaurus ?

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 08/12/2018 18:03

It was on our list for our second. I like it. We chose a different option in the end. We then ran into an Atlas at a baby group.

LordPickle · 08/12/2018 18:02

This must be a wind up. Atlas is awful.

To be fair, I had a colleague a few years ago they named her son Attila. Confused So maybe Atlas isn't so bad?

Just kidding, it's terrible.

Iknowthatguy · 08/12/2018 17:57

😷

Polkasq · 08/12/2018 17:38

A bit "out there" for me.

Iamism · 08/12/2018 17:16

Imagine the question 'Where is Atlas' or

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/12/2018 17:15

What about Atticus? Similar sounding, but much less huh?

KismetHardie · 08/12/2018 17:15

Love it but it's a heavy burden for a child to bear

Sorry bad joke. I like it-it was one of the more out-there options we knocked around-but it is a lot of name. If you live in Stoke Newington or similar then he'll blend right in, if Runcorn/Gateshead/Derby then maybe think on.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/12/2018 17:15

I like it, but it’s quite a name to handle.

shamofamockery · 08/12/2018 17:15

Ffs

GinIsIn · 08/12/2018 17:13

Noooo. It sounds like a travel agent.
