What does everyone think of Hesper?

I’ve always liked it but never considered actually using it. I like the sound of it - it seems soft to me, like the word ‘whisper’, and I like its meaning (it comes from the Greek word for ‘evening’. The Hesperides were nymphs in Greek mythology and Hesperus is the name of the evening star).

I’ve heard some people say it sounds witchy, which I can understand, or that they don’t like it because it has a hissy sound.

I think it’s cool. I like the whisper effect. It’s original without being yoonique.

Don’t like Hester. Too harsh. Combination of heckler and pester.

No-one will like it on here. They’re very conformist and only like Ella, Ava, Rose, Olivia, Grace, Elizabeth, Eleanor...

I’m not mad keen on Hesper. I do like Hester or Esther though. Do you like either of these maybe. They sound sort of less lispy and whispery.

Makes me think of the schooner Hesperus, and consequently the Hesper Schoonerus from a Just - William story. Possibly a niche association. I wouldn't let that put you off if I were you.

Never heard of this, people will probably confuse it with Hester which I'm not that keen on either.

I would pity a child saddled with the name Hesper. It doesn't sound nice at all.

I think it would be frequently misheard as Hester, which I also like a lot.

It's unusual, however Vespa is a bike, also Spanish/Italian for wasp so just be wary of cruel kids 'hespa the vespa' blah blah .... you know what kids can be like!

I know someone with Hesper as a middle name. She’s in her 40s. I’m not sure about it myself.
