Do you like the name Digby?

We've always said we would use this name but I'd like to get others opinions as I'm doubting myself!

There are no dogs names as such, just names. However this one is so entrenched in dog name history that it even has a song. Someone’s parents or grandparents will remember this and he’ll have it sung to him at school.

Isn't there a show on nick jr called 'digby dragon'?
That's what the name reminds me of... an animated dragon.

I think it's ok . It's quite masculine, easy to pronounce and spell, not common but not terribly unusual and actually quite fun. I get the dog connection and that was my first thought but I don't agree that it is just a dog's name ie Rover/Fido but rather of the man's name as dog name eg Rex/ Toby . I'm meeting a few Digbys now.

It reminds of that business man Digby Jones who had the worst desert island disc song choice ever. He told a story about in the 80s when he was a top hedge fund manager (or some such). On a realky good day of making vile amounts of money they get pissed and sing "we are the champions" Hmm

I think in this case its not the same as saying its a dogs name in the same way as Luna or Poppy. It's like saying it's a traditional dog name in the same way as something like Rover or Lucky.

Most of the names people describe as dog names I think can be used for both humans or dogs, but Digby is purely a dog name to me. Not even a nice sounding one imo.

My friend's Rough Haired Dachshund is called Digby. It sooo suits him.

My dd has a friend name Digby. Lovely child. As with any name one you know one them it becomes less unusual. It's a great name.

It's the sound that I'm not keen on. It sounds cute and a little weak imo. I prefer more solid sounding names.

No. I know a young child named Digby, when people learn his name it’s a case of “Oh...that’s very...unusual....”.

I don't get the whole 'this is a dogs name' thing. That seems very old fashioned way at looking at things.
Most of the dogs I know have human names! Steve, Dave, Rodney, sally, Bertie, Lottie, Millie etc etc etc
