Aiden, Felix or Owen?

So, these are our top three. We already have an older daughter called Penelope Ada. Our surname starts with an O, two syllables. Me and my husband are not big people so ds isn't likely to be either! His middle name is going to be Barnabas, which has a special meaning for us. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Felix

Felix.... but I may be biased!

Ipanema01 · 19/12/2018 10:43

Felix :)

Flamingosnbears · 12/12/2018 17:33

Felix with penelope

Princesspeachy0 · 12/12/2018 16:46

Felix.

My DH thinks it's a cat name though if that puts you off.

Felix

owen....partly cause i know a lovely one. But it does depend on your surname....will go with some and not others. felix is great if its a cat

Felix

I much prefer Owen out of the 3. Depends on your surname though and whether it would work. Not keen on Felix at all due to cat connotations. It has quite a different feel to your other two choices.

MintyCedric · 08/12/2018 20:45

Aidan...based purely on the fact that I work with a grown up one and he's a lovely chap!

Procne · 08/12/2018 19:36

The mid-spelling of Aidan as Aiden is maddening.

It’s the Irish Aodhán anglicised — he was an Irish monk who founded the Lindisfarne monastery and died somewhere around the 600s. It couldn’t be any more trad.

shoofly · 08/12/2018 19:28

Aidan with an a. Aiden is how you spell it incorrectly

sheldonstwin · 08/12/2018 19:22

Felix

JudasPrudy · 08/12/2018 19:09

Owen, Felix is a cat food name. Aiden is nice but you risk him being mixed up with Kayden, Jayden, and all the other similar names that are about at the minute.

AuntieStella · 08/12/2018 14:19

Of your list, I would choose Aidan (with this spelling, like the saint, if you want the ordinary/tradition/centuries old way) with Felix as runner-up

plaidlife · 08/12/2018 14:04

Felix, nice name, lovely meaning.

sue51 · 08/12/2018 14:02

Aiden

fannyanddick · 08/12/2018 14:00

Felix. Great name, goes well with Penelope.

ViragoKnows · 08/12/2018 10:18

You’re right. What I should have said is “always appears on the ‘naughty name’ lists”. Which is what I meant.

SoupDragon · 08/12/2018 10:15

No more snobby than labelling a name "naughty" because of your personal prejudices.

ViragoKnows · 08/12/2018 10:00

That’s a matter of reputation soup. You need to be aware before you choose a name , so you can decide whether you care or not. I don’t personally (one of mine has a name iniversally deemed “chavvy” on MN),

Saying that a name “isn’t an actual name” just because you’re snobby about it, is several steps beyond.

SoupDragon · 08/12/2018 09:56

Here we go 🙄

Says the person perpetuating the "naughty boy" name nonsense.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/12/2018 09:42

Aidan and Owen are bland and boring. Plus Owen is surname to me. Felix is nice.

Benjamin
Barnaby
Benedict
Magnus
Cassius
Rupert
Jasper
Elijah

ViragoKnows · 08/12/2018 09:28

Except Aidan is an actual name, so not close at all really to Jayden or kayden.

Here we go 🙄

Icklepup · 08/12/2018 09:27

Felix
