I've just seen this suggested on another thread and wondered what the consensus is? Blos/Blossy for short?

Even for a horse, it would only suit a heavy-legged, slow, sweet-but-thoroughly- unathletic horse.

For a horse, I think you could get away with it.
For a person, no.

I knew a twenty-something Blossom for a short time. She was very ethereal and very cool!

@Moominfan I don't know, I always though the Pankhursts had rather fanciful names (Christabel?).

Blossom is not nearly as nice as the other flower names like Rose, Rosa, Lily, Iris, etc. Flora is also much nicer, I think.

I think a good test is would you like to be named Blossom? I wouldn’t, I’d feel a bit silly every time I introduced myself to someone new.

I had a lovely primary school teacher who used to call us Blossom, as a term of endearment. Because of this I have a soft spot for the name. However I don't think I would actually use it for a baby.
