I have such a name crush on the name Primrose that it’s our current front runner. Is it my hormones? I’m smitten but would value some honest opinions x

Am by chance reading a whole chapter on primroses from a new book. Recommend it highly, can post some examples if OP would like.

it's so cute. I know a baby Primrose from a rural, outdoorsy but not at all prissy family, and she's delightful.

I really love it OP. I'm not sure if I would use it as it doesn't fit our surname but I'm pg at the moment and it's on my list. I think go with it!

Names don't need to be shortened! My dd has a 3 syllable name and has very rarely been shortened.

Primrose is easy to say!

The connection with Harold Shipman isn't a massive reach, though, is it, given how many people have said they make the connection.

I think it's awful, sorry. I do think Shipman, and she looked so drab and downtrodden in the press coverage (unsurprisingly for what she'd been through of course, poor woman).

I really think that Shipman is a massive reach.
I'm not a great flower fan for names but that being said I think that Primrose has quite a lot going for it. I am amazed that you think that it doesn't have gravitas enough to support a woman with a professional career . It's a perfectly fine adaptable name.

I know a 5yo Primrose. Tbh I was a bit Hmm when the name was announced but it's actually grown on me now and it's just who she is.
I wouldn't care if my doctor/lawyer was called Blossom, etc. As long as they are qualified, do the job competently and are not a misogynistic prick.

Primrose is quite nice but I prefer Primarosa (not sure if that's a known name or not).

Primrose means "first rose" - prima rosa - as it's an early spring flower. It's lovely.

I can't start the name snobbery here. I did my training contract at an international commercial law firm, and when I did a seat in the litigation team, I was working under a partner called Tracey and a senior solicitor called Sharon. Primrose isn't that unusual, and can be shortened to Rose or Rosie for someone who wants something a bit more conventional.
