Phillipa, Harriet, Katherine, Keziah, Georgina, Henrietta? And middle name help

I like names that can be shortened to nick names and want a name where the shorter version will be used the most day to day, will be introduced as shorter name. I know a lot of people don't like this or say just use the short version on birth certificate but I want to give options for when they're older on CV's etc.

Phillipa - Pippa
Harriet - Hattie
Katherine - Kitty - Don't like Katherine as much as other longer names but do Like Kitty
Keziah - Kizzy - New to list but really like it, old testament name
Georgina - Georgie - Warming to this one
Henrietta - Hettie - Not sure if a bit too long and fussy? What's nicer Hettie or Hattie?

Middle name will be Florence which is a family name. Also want to add in my fathers name as a middle name as he has passed away. So would be first name, Florence, my dads male name then surname. Is that weird? I just really want baby to have connection to grandad they won't meet.

We're pretty much decided on Keziah and using Kizzy as a day to day to name. Will introduce her as Kizzy. We both still really like Hattie so will depend on what name she suits as well I think. May look more like a Hattie than a Kizzy.

Yes, baby will have connection to their granddad from my mum, photos, our memories etc. I think we've decided not to use his name as a middle name.

I went to school with a girl who’s middle name was Reginald.

The thing is, the baby will have a huge connection to their grandfather without having to have their name. Genes, family history, anecdotes, the way they’re raised perhaps.

I love keziah! My name is on your list so I’m probably predisposed to like them!

Harriet and Henrietta are my favourites off your list. I hate Georgina. I’ve never ever met a nice one, they’re always absolute bitches. They also don’t go by Georgie, it’s always Gina.

I went to school with one Keziah and she was just a ginormous chav tbh.

I don’t understand why you’d use Katherine when you’re not keen on the name just because you like the diminutive Confused.

I know a Philippa (one L, 2 Ps) who has always loathed being called Pippa. Woe betide anyone who assumes it's a given.

I love all those names/nicknames. I particularly like Keziah and you would also have the choice of Kaisy as a shortened version. But they are all really lovely.

I don't see a problem with using a male name before the surname - my friend's daughter has her grandfather's name and it sounds like a double barreled surname.

@WillardJStevens Hattie is lovely, we like both Hattie and Kizzy and will definitely use the shortened forms day to day, school, name tags etc. Will have to look at the spelling whether to use Keziah or without the h.

Both my girls have my maiden name as a middle name - is also a male first name.

I love Hattie (I have one) and Kezia - my Other Dd has this as another middle name as it is a family name and I wasn’t bold enough to use as a first name. Though I can’t imagine my DD with a name other than the one we gave her, I do love Kezia (Kez-eye-ah in our family) and kind of wish we’d gone for it.

Thought I'd post an update, we seem to be going for Kizzy (Keziah) as DH loves Kizzy as a day to day name.

We've decided not to use my fathers name so will be Keziah Florence surname. Kizzy Surname day to day, school etc.

Thank you for all your comments, it's so hard to decide!!

I love including your dad's name. A second middle name doesn't get used in every day life so it should be a name you love or because it has special meaning.

One of my dc has a similar arrangement for middle names.

I like Hattie, Pippa and Florence as names too.

Out of Kizzy, Hattie and Pippa I would say Kizzy goes best with your other children’s names. It could always be short for Katherine. So Katherine Florence Edward (nn Kizzy). I love the use of your fathers name and plan to do this too whether ours is girl or boy

@cheesetheday Keziah is pronounced Kez-eye-ah, Kezia can be pronounced the same way, but also be pronounced Kez-ee-ah (as per the Scottish MP) or Kez-aay-ah (to rhyme with slayer).

Do your dad's name - awesome idea. Sod the fact it isn't a girls name. It has meaning and is special to you.
