So I love usual names am I’m trying to find an usual scandi/Viking boys name (Viking at the request of my DP).

We’ve decided on Freya for a girl. But we can’t agree on any boy names.

Can anyone help? Oh and it needs to go with a double barrel surname.

I know an 'Oddhinn'

He is 'spirited' Wink

DixieFlatline · 28/11/2018 13:37

Frigg or Frigga

I'd recommend steering well clear of this one as well as Cnut! Grin

Bluetooth/Blåtand is not an actual boys' name. Harald is, though I have never met one.

An awful lot of these names will cause pronunciation issues unless you completely bastardise them (which is no fun either). Names like Erik/Eric are pretty safe though.

DunkandEggAgain · 28/11/2018 13:31

Sorry, i think it's Eret.

DunkandEggAgain · 28/11/2018 13:29

Errit. Im unsure of the spelling though.

Morganj28 · 28/11/2018 13:26

@ZebraKid71 we don’t know anyone called Freya And it was the first name we’ve ever agreed on so it’s kind of stuck.

That being said, any Viking girls names welcome Wink

There are some exceptional boys names on here!

(just to note though that freya is really popular so if you wanted unusual I'd go back to the drawing board with this one - there are some brilliant viking/scandi girls names)

Marylou2 · 28/11/2018 12:58

Just love these names. I could never think of a boys name when I was pregnant was was glad I had girls but most of these would have been perfect.

MrsSpenserGregson · 28/11/2018 12:58

Ragnar is amazing!! Check this out and maybe your husband will change his mind. "Play that axe Ragnar" (it's a Horrible Histories video, don't worry!).

halfwitpicker · 28/11/2018 12:52

Bluetooth is an actual boy's name?

AdaColeman · 28/11/2018 12:51

Erik and Ragnar get my vote.

Morganj28 · 28/11/2018 12:49

@thereallifesaffy this is why a Viking name is perfect for our kid. As we’re both redheads so it’s more of less guaranteed it’ll be a ginger bearded Viking later in life 😂 especially if he takes after his dad

MagnusMama · 28/11/2018 12:46

We'll, I'm biased, but Magnus is nice!

We know a few Thor/Thorstens as well. Not met an Odin...

thereallifesaffy · 28/11/2018 12:42

I may have missed if anyone has suggested it yet but I like Bjarke (means "bear")

RiverTam · 28/11/2018 12:27

there was a Thorin at DD's nursery a few years back, cute as a button. However, I'm not sure that being named after a spectacularly grumpy dwarf who (SPOILER ALERT!!) comes to a sticky end is necessarily a good thing, even with the divine Richard Armitage portraying him.

IStandWithPosie · 28/11/2018 12:25

I know a toddler Thorin!

MamaDane · 28/11/2018 12:22

Oh and Nohr/Nord/Njord is super popular in Denmark right now.
There's also
Tyr
Fenris
Aske

brizzledrizzle · 28/11/2018 12:18

Imagine him going into school I AM THOOORRRR

You could have twins, Thor and Spartacus.

hamabr86 · 28/11/2018 12:13

Tagging these for future reference as I love them. Grin

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 28/11/2018 12:12

Odin seems to be in use these days, but I prefer Erik.

RedRoseReb · 28/11/2018 12:11

There must , sorry!

Morganj28 · 28/11/2018 12:11

😂😂😂 @perfectPeony. I think those are the front runners 🙄🤣
