Which name do you prefer?

If you prefer Ralph/Ralphie, which would you put on the BC?

Any other name suggestions would be great :)

Rory or Ralph, both nice.

Ralphie isn’t a name really... it’s a nickname. I personally hate it but even if you liked it don’t go for that on the BC!

I love Rory. Ralph feels a bit boring and middle-aged to me, but I like it better than Ralphie!

If you do choose Ralph/Ralphie though I would use Ralph on the birth cert and Ralphie as a nickname. I know he would grow up with Alfie, Archie, Freddie etc but I always prefer a more grown up name for official things and to fall back on when they grow out of cutesy nicknames

I have a friend who is Ralph, his actual name and the one on his birth certificate name is Randolph-just another idea to throw into the mix.

I think Ralph is horrible. If you're going to cryogenically freeze him at age 2, call him Ralphie. Otherwise it's ridiculous for an adult.

Ralphie on birth certificate would be horrendous.

You’re not naming a baby, you’re naming a person, who will need to grow up and have a career.

I would be embarrassed if I were an adult man to have to introduce myself as Ralphie. I’d change it by deedpoll as soon as legally possible.

People still get called Will or Willy despite Willy meaning penis!

Ralph is a well known name. I wouldn't even think of the book by J Blume

We have a Ruairí so I'm a bit biased.
I'd definitely go with Ralph and possibly call him Rafe

I love Rafe, to give a preferred variation.

Out of Rory and Ralph I prefer Rory, though Ralph is ok. Definitely put Ralph not Ralphie on the bc if you choose that.

Yes, I did read Forever at the usual age, but I recognise that it's also a perfectly ordinary male name. I mean, Rees-Mogg hasn't yet put me off the perfectly nice name Jacob, and that's a much more disturbing image than Ralph-as-penis.

I like Rory and Ralph (never heard of the vomit meaning). Ralphie is awful. I like Rafe too.

Ralph is the noise you make when you vomit! Hence why it’s a slang word for throwing your guts up Grin
