Do you think this name is common? Or it will become very common?

Thea.

I've recently heard the name Thea, and it sounds so lovely and mystical. However, I've heard that it's been rapidly gaining popularity over the last few years, which worries me because I don't want a name that will be eventually be common. I'm not searching for a name that's ultra rare, but I think it's nicer to have a slightly unique name. What do you guys think?

I first heard the name Thea when studying Keat's 'Hyperion' for o-level (she is the sister of Saturn). I loved it and wanted to call one of my children Thea but didn't have any girls.

I personally know three under two, and know of a few others. It's quite popular in West Yorkshire at the moment - which is strange as it really doesn't sound good in our accent!

I know of 6 baby Thea's born in the last 18 months, I'm in the south east, it's a nice name though :)

It's a lovely name. There's one I my daughter's class aged 6. I don't know any others though.

I know a couple. I love the name and it was on our list for DS (we didn't know he was a boy!). It'd be on my list for this one (who is DD) but one of my best mates from baby group has it as her little girls name. She is 3.

I only know one, aged 20 - she’s a lovely girl. She’s from a Jewish family so I’d always assumed it was a Jewish name until recently.

I know 3 babies called Thea in the last 2 years. I think it's going to start becoming quite popular. I'm not overly keen on it but I think that's because I am in Essex and so will end up pronounced Fee-a due to the accent.

I think it's a beautiful name! (Would go on my list but can't have and names ending in 'ah' - only because have an Amelia (and Thea just wouldn't go together).
Not too sure about popularity (obviously! I picked Amelia!) But I don't really care about that- a lovely name is a lovely name xx

Oh and also one of my sons has a "old man" name from before that was a thing. We thought it was quirky at the time, now it's in the Top 20.

I know one Thea. It's a beautiful name imo. Quite classic so even if it does become popular, it will never lose its charm.

Robbie William’s first DD is Theodora. Perhaps they call her Thea as a shortened version?

I think it’s lovely. It might become a bit more popular but I don’t see it becoming an Olivia. I think it will remain heard of but not that popular

I know two babies named Thea and a 60yo friend with the name.
Robbie Williams's daughter is Teddy, short for Theodora.

I worked with a Thea (early 40s), and know one other adult Thea. I also know a 4yo Thea. Lovely name and not hugely common.

DD1's name is one that we were told EVERYONE would have. We know no others.

DD2 was a slightly more unusual name. There will be 3 in her year at high school Hmm
