Thoughts? It's never really occured to me as an option until yesterday but I quite like it.

I have a Mika - named after Finnish F1 racer Mika Hakkinen. I love it but he hates it! Wishes he had a ‘normal name’. I thought it was v unusual but when he started primary school there were 2 others Grin.

His is pronounced to rhyme with sticker, but lots of people pronounce it like speaker. He was always too embarrassed to correct teachers when they said it wrong so has spent his whole life feeling annoyed Sad but we also have a stupid surname so that doesn’t help!

If you go for it, make sure your little one knows its ok to correct people who say it wrong!

I'm not a fan of Micah. I prefer the more traditional Michael, which doesn't seem used much these days.

You'll probably get some people mis-hearing and thinking it's Michael.

I don't think it goes well with Arthur. If you're in the SE it's likely to come out as Micararthur.

@Hosiesmum it must be a thing with healthcare providers, we’ve had some hilarious pronunciations of Niamh at our doctors surgery.

Op my first thought was Micah Richards the footballer who always seemed to be pronounced a little more like Mi-cah than My-cah (at least that’s what my cloudy memory is telling me)

The only thing would be the pronunciation. I know one and it’s my-cah but loads of people call him mee-cah which could get annoying?

I love it. But I do have an 8 week old Micah myself ;)

And I know another 4 of them under the age of 8. And a couple of older ones (30s).

I agree with your my-cah pronunciation, and would never have thought it could be pronounced any other way, but in his short little life our Micah has been called Mee-cah, Mish-a, Mee-sha, Mitch-ah... every heathcare provider that he's met has got it wrong, pretty much!

Once people have heard me say it they seem to be OK with it, and we've had a number of compliments on it, but if they're reading it, it is apparently not a familiar name to most people - if that will bother you, avoid the name! But it's such a lovely name :)

Both great names but they don't flow very well next to each other.
Maybe choose a different middle name or if Arthur means a lot, put something in between?
