Reuben/Ruben

Immensely struggling with boys names!
So I orginally like Rupert then Rory, Caleb, Remy and ruled out Joseph due to dislike of nickname Joe.
I was looking back over my posts and I saw a few people recommended Reuben.

What do you think of the name Reuben/Ruben does it go well with older brother Noah?
Also which spelling? Reuben or Ruben? It appears Ruben is the spanish spelling.
Many thanks!

Rupert is alright, i guess. Might seem a bit posh to some, people will make prejudgments... If you really love it, then stick with it. But avoid pairing it with Ted....

Reuben on the other hand is a good strong name, not ridiculously common and not easily categorised. and would go well with your other name i think.

I have a Reuben, we’ve had the odd ‘are you Jewish’ or ‘are you religious’ (we are neither) but mostly people seem to love the name!
So many names that are mainstream are biblical anyway (Matthew, Mark, Luke, etc) so I don’t really see it as an issue.
I also have a cousin called Noah as it happens :)

Reuben Sandwich 🥪

Princesspeachy0 · 22/11/2018 17:01

I love Rupert Ted. Grin

Also think Noah and Rueben sound lovely together.

JosiahJames · 22/11/2018 16:52

A family member has just called his baby Reuben (lovely name)
All the comments I have had so far are, oh, we didn't know your family are Jewish. Nothing wrong with being Jewish but we are not so as he gets older our Reuben may get a little annoyed at that

Winterwonderland12 · 22/11/2018 13:44

I prefer Rupert.

I agree that Reuben and Noah together sound very religious.

Frenchy36 · 22/11/2018 12:19

I didn’t realise Reuben was religious to be honest. So to me not at all and I doubt many others will connect it either.

Plus Reuben is at the top of my short list if DH lets me get my way.

lebkuchenlover · 20/11/2018 21:24

I like Rupert.

thejustine · 20/11/2018 20:52

Also Re Rupert I think that is a lovely name, my friend named his son Rupert and everyone calls him Ru which I think is adorable.

thejustine · 20/11/2018 20:51

I absolutely ADORE the name Reuben and it was my first choice for a boy name.
Then I realised it was also the name of my favourite sandwich...

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 20/11/2018 14:31

I've only ever known it to be spelt Reuben. I like it OP. It's my favourite out of your suggestions.

LovelyBranches · 20/11/2018 13:31

I am biased with Reuben. We’ve never had any comments about religion.

But, you must always go with the name you love and if Rupert is your favourite, go with that. Rupert Ted is very bear like, but it’s cute for a baby and travels well throughout life

ScabbyBabby · 19/11/2018 14:30

Reuben is gorgeous but then I am biased.
Not too keen on Rupert, although it’s a nice name for a puppy.
Joseph is beautiful, again I am biased!

moredoll Just because I know of two locally doesnt mean they'll go to school with my son! One is 5 years old and the other one 2 years so they'll never be in the same class and maybe not even same school.

Prefer Louis to Reuben, but I like Reuben too.
If you know of two other Rupert's locally when they all go to school your DS would be Rupert F. It's not my favourite name, sorry.

2isabella2 · 18/11/2018 23:16

Reuben (spelt like that) or Louis (prefer that) of the ones you've mentioned. Both great names.

Not a fan of Rupert or Teddy. I know a lot of Teddys now (very popular in my set) and it hasn't grown on me at all despite knowing a lot of lovely ones. Too twee. Love Edward though.

Ribeebie · 18/11/2018 22:46

I really like Rueben. It was on our short list for DS.

lebkuchenlover · 18/11/2018 22:40

Rupert Edward would be lovely!

Shadow1234 · 18/11/2018 22:34

Prefer Louis

Desmondo2016 · 18/11/2018 21:14

Rupert Reuben Rufus and Rudy! I love all roo names !

WhirlwindHugs · 18/11/2018 21:11

Rupert is a lovely name if that's the one you really like, go for it!

firsttimemumma89 · 18/11/2018 21:09

I just love Ted/Teddy and it hadn't dawned on me the Bear reference Blush Will avoid

DramaAlpaca · 18/11/2018 20:43

I don't like Rupert at all, but if you use it please don't call him Rupert Ted - all I can think of is Rupert the Bear.

stellarfox · 18/11/2018 20:27

What about Rufus? Quite similar to Rupert but I much prefer it!

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/11/2018 19:34

Rupert Ted makes me immediately think of Rupert the Bear !
