It’s ok-ish but I do see it as more of a nickname, but that’s probably because a friend in college was nicknamed Wren - his name was Keiren.

It's not really a name. Sounds like a (slightly rubbish) nickname for Karen or Lauren.

Well, no future daughters for me now, and we never got round to deciding on a girl's name as they turned out to be boys....

Actually I liked Claudia but was put off by the fact that it starts with 'claw' and my husband was put off by the Italian pronunciation that sounds like 'cloudier' in English. So just as well they were boys.

I don't think many other people think of names as I do. When I see Wren, because it's not a common name, after the first bird and St Paul's cathedral associations, I immediately think of all the other words that start 'wre-', and none of them have very positive meanings. Wrench is clearly the closest, but then you've got wreck and wrest and wrestle and wretch/wretched and wreath (which I suppose could have a positive meaning as in 'wreathed in flowers' but makes me think of funerals) and wreak (as in havoc).

So the word is just not good in my slightly odd brain.

I love it for either girl or boy - it was on my list until I realised it didn’t sound good with my last name.

@daisypond Daisys are small and nondescript. Ponds are small and pointless. Why would you name yourself after them?

It's one of DD's nicknames but it's not her actual name.

It’s lovely, but I’ve met three Wrens under 18months recently, so I think it’s really taking off.

This hasn't made the transition from bird to name for me. Wrens are quite attractive small birds but nothing special - and they are very small.

I don't like the way it looks (the first part of the word 'wrench' and Christopher Wren, because of the initial capital letter, are the first things I think of). Then I think of Wrens as in the WRNS - women's navy.

And I don't like the way it sounds - unfinished, as if it's short for Renata or Lorenzo or something.
