Calladine - how do you pronounce this?

to settle an argument - last syllable like come dine with me or to rhyme with Catherine? Or are both acceptable?

As a surname, Cal-a-dine. If it was a first name I'd guess Cal-a-deen

Not one I've ever come across in my entire life of living in Scotland.

Would assume it is said to rhyme with Ballantine. - tyne at the end and not teen.

But it screams "made up name" to me.

The Calladin (possibly Caladin?) I know pronounces it quite like Catherine: CAL-a-din, with the 'din' to rhyme with 'tin'.

I'm Scottish and never heard of it. But I'd pronounce it Calla-DINE.

I'd assume transferred surname and say calla-dyne (unless told it was calla-deen). I'd find other pronunciations a little forced/odd

Calla-dine (have a couple of friends with this surname & that’s how they pronounce it)
Caladin would work if they are adamant on the name & looks more boyish than the double-l and -ine

Either Cal-la-dine or Cal-la-deen at random. Definitely not like Catherine.

It's a recipe for child (and adult) having to spell their name and tell people how to pronounce it, and say yes it's not a girl's name for the whole of their life.

Will drive them mad.

Scottish person here and I'd say calla-deen
I've not heard this name before, I thought it was feminine and quite a pretty name when I read this at first. I don't think I'd choose it for a boy.

I’d assume to rhyme with “calla-wine” too.

If they like the sound of Calladin/Caladin, why not spell it like that?

Bit odd without a connection to the name, but I do rather like it.

Seeing it for the first time written down I would rhyme with wine.

It’s a terrible first name, though. IMO.

It is my mother in law's maiden name. Pronounced to rhyme with Calla-wine.

I would assume Caladine was said as Cal-a-deen, with the "ine" pronounced as in Christine.

I've never heard of it before but would have assumed rhyming dine with wine. It also reminds me of a toddler trying to say Caroline!

It looks feminine to me (and a tad made up)
I would pronounce it Cal-a-dine but wouldn’t have a clue really.

Ah the people I know are from the Scottish highlands so always assumed it was Scottish.

So do people think “calladin” is legit or should I say something?

There is a Scottish/Irish surname Considine with the last syllable pronounced 'dyne' to rhyme with 'mine' and 'Tyne'.

Interesting! The people I know with this surname pronounce it like come dine - I always put it in the same mental bracket as Bannatyne, Ballantine etc.

My friend is convinced it’s like Catherine, despite only having read it in a book?! (No Scottish connections). I’ve been wondering whether to say something or not!
