Suggestions for shortening ‘Electra’

HeebeeJeebies · 09/11/2018 13:05

We love the name Electra. But would rather not use Elle/Ellie-type shortened versions ourselves due to other family member’s names.

Any suggestions for shortening this?

Badwifey · 09/11/2018 14:34

Imagine if "lecci" got together with Bill Grin

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/11/2018 14:34

Sorry but Electra sounds v stripper-ish

exWifebeginsat40 · 09/11/2018 14:27

yeah, google ‘Electra Complex’ before making any final decisions. also lol at ‘Leccy’ as a short version.

lebkuchenlover · 09/11/2018 14:19

Names don't need to be shortened! My dd has a 3 syllable name that never gets shortened. We al love the full version!

Electra is beautiful and is easy to say. No need to shorten it imo.

MotherOfDragonite · 09/11/2018 13:52

I think it's a beautiful name but better in its full version rather than shortened.

A friend of mine called Alexa always gets called Lecky, which I think could happen here.

Desecratedcoconut · 09/11/2018 13:51

But the Electra complex is such ugly weird battshittery I just can't imagine dumping it on your daughter.

goodnessgrace · 09/11/2018 13:51

Is she going to be a superhero?

Leccy is a nickname but honestly, you should reconsider doing this to your child.

Onemorefireball · 09/11/2018 13:48

I've never heard of the Electra complex, so I wouldn't think of that. I think of Electra from comics.

Lexie is good I think.

Imsoimso · 09/11/2018 13:45

It just reminds me of electricity. Or a stage name. Why you would shorten it to the leccy bill, God knows.

Desecratedcoconut · 09/11/2018 13:45

Electra, really?

Voodoobizkits · 09/11/2018 13:42

Lexi
Catra
Cat
Rara

SnuggyBuggy · 09/11/2018 13:41

I like it, a good classical name

NordicNobody · 09/11/2018 13:40

I like it. Why does it need shortening? I can't think of any logical non - Elle nicknames, but I'd just always use the full version personally.

CryptoFascist · 09/11/2018 13:38

Lex

NotANotMan · 09/11/2018 13:37

Leccy Grin are you serious? Leccy short for electric...got to put some credit on the leccy meter...

If you like Electra then be bold and call her Electra! If you like Lexi or Ellie then why go for something as unusual as Electra?

FawnDrench · 09/11/2018 13:32

Tra la
Eel
Plug
Plexie

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 09/11/2018 13:29

One of my friends is an Electra (she's about 23 years old I think!) - and she's amazing - really cool, cleaver, intelligent, artsy, kind and pretty. Her name is often shortened to Leccie (don't know how it's spelt though!)

Hiphopopotamus · 09/11/2018 13:26

Please don’t call your child Electra! It’s the equivalent of calling a boy Oedipus!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 09/11/2018 13:26

A chicken called Electra would be cool Wink

HowlsMovingBungalow · 09/11/2018 13:25
Grin What is it with the nicknames needed nowadays? Just stick with the name given.
riotlady · 09/11/2018 13:24

Oh please don’t call your chicken Electra, everyone will think of the Electra complex

dangerrabbit · 09/11/2018 13:21

Complex

TheFaerieQueene · 09/11/2018 13:21

How beat me to it!
