Me and my hubby are trying for our rainbow baby and I love the name sailor.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OliviaStabler · 04/11/2018 11:52

OP seems to have flouncedGrin

MrsStrowman · 04/11/2018 11:41

Sailor cherry, sailor Jerry. This is clearly not real

Taylor22 · 04/11/2018 11:09

There’s an American animal rescue program and one of the men on it is called Randy Farmer

Hehehehe 👨‍🌾 😈

Sandbox · 04/11/2018 10:49

Just because it’s in the US doesn’t make it a good name. There’s an American animal rescue program and one of the men on it is called Randy Farmer Grin

shamofamockery · 04/11/2018 10:37

This has to be a wind up. Poor kid. Sailor Cherry. Wow.

Marnimajor · 04/11/2018 10:36

How a *gay young man - NOT fat!

rainbowquack · 04/11/2018 10:36

I thought I had seen it all, but clearly not.

Marnimajor · 04/11/2018 10:35

I think it will only work if he grows up to be an absolutely strapping adonis of a lad, with bags and bags of charisma - it would be terribly cruel to saddle a skinny, bookish young man with that name.

Another thing to consider is how a fat young man might feel with that name? Sailors can be fetishised in some gay communities which could make this name very uncomfortable for some.

It’s much less loaded for a girl I suppose.

Good luck TTC OP, I’m sure he or she will be lovely no matter what you name them.

Spartacunt · 04/11/2018 10:33

Have you considered Popeye? Goes nicely with Cherry too.

jq28 · 04/11/2018 10:33

I like it but spelt saylor

Frazzled2207 · 04/11/2018 10:24

I don't hate it as a name but Sailor Cherry for a girl is really awful, sorry.

But I'm not sure why you posted about it on MN if you clearly weren't interested in others' opinions.

gigglingbiscuit · 04/11/2018 10:24

I worked with a french lady once called Seila, I thought it was lovely 😊

BathFullOfEels · 04/11/2018 10:17

I’ve just been reminded that I named ds1 after my grandpa 😳

BathFullOfEels · 04/11/2018 10:14

My parents and grandparents were gynaecologists. I’m really regretting not giving either of my ds’s a name as a fun and playful tribute to either of them. Oh well, I’ll have to start trying for number 3.

gallicghoul · 04/11/2018 10:13

It's not a name I'd chose but if OP likes it then why not?
I don't like surnames/professions as first names in any sense.

Obviously there's little chance of other board committee members sniggering about the name or the baby becoming Prime Minister Cherry because the sad fact is that those children with unusual names like this aren't successful in more traditional industries.

Might be fine as a musician or actress but unlikely to be the next Governor of the Bank of England.

BakedBeans47 · 04/11/2018 10:03

Horrible

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 04/11/2018 09:53

Nah, I know a Zailor still bad, but not as bad

MarthasGinYard · 04/11/2018 09:49

Sailor Cherry 'name'

WTF

Is this actual surname you are posting. Some people love to share I guess.

Feel sorry for this hypothetical dc

ADastardlyThing · 04/11/2018 09:46

Sailor cherry? Poor bugger, I'm guessing you'd want him or her to be one of those kids who lives within their parents until they are about 60 because they've had rotten luck in life.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 09:40

Snap, Venus.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/11/2018 09:39

Call the kid "Cowboy", why doncha?

I like Cowboy for a girl.

Seriously, OP< how about Marina?

VenusInSpurs · 04/11/2018 09:34

“My dad, grandfather and many before them worked on the seas, it's a tribute to them, it's meaningful and playful”

Marina for a girl?

wildgirls · 04/11/2018 09:33

What’s the ‘Mia brigade?’ Curious as to what kind of person this makes me Hmm

Daysofpearlyspencer · 04/11/2018 09:16

If your relatives went to sea they were not strictly sailors but seamen, which will probably be your child's nickname at school ....

Glossymare · 04/11/2018 09:15

I’m from a farming family.
My dd is called Tractor
My ds is called Plough
I think they’re lovely names Wink
