Fantastic idea for a name

My baby years are over, but I've been thinking, after watching history programmes,why don't people use old English names anymore. Ealdwine,Athelstan, Albert ch, Etheldreda all brilliant names, don't you think?

I'm not keen on the ones you've mentioned but old names do seem to be coming back!

The Albert was an autocorrect for some unpronounceable name I found !

I've come across so many Alberts in the past 5 years. Most shorten it to Albie but there's been one in almost every baby/toddler/preschool group I've been to since having my first dd 5 years ago. Maybe those names are coming back.

Emma is an old English name still in popular use. It's one of the reasons I like it.

If you mean Old English/Anglo-Saxon names, then I agree, OP. There are some lovely ones that could work very well today, such as Alviva, Alta, Ediva, Engelith, Elvey, Nerienda.

Boys are a bit tougher, but Eustan, Godwin, Aldo, Guy, Hemming, Maynard etc, might work.

I think they're coming back! My favourite is Holm for a boy. And CrookedMe must know some suuuuper old people Grin

I don't see why they shouldn't make a very delayed comeback, they're more sensible than some other names you hear!
