Right....we're due our first baby in 3 weeks and are STILL undecided on boys names! We've got a short list of:
Otis, Otto, Arlo or Isaac
We want something that isn't too pretentious or weird but also isn't too commonplace. Thoughts?!

Isaac. Not keen on the others.

Littleloaf · 04/11/2018 12:07

Definitely Otto, after the German Olympic show jumper and coach Otto Becker. He's a total legend. I'm currently trying to use this argument on DH to get him to put Otto on our list but so far no luck!

LassWiADelicateAir · 02/11/2018 22:47

Isaac. The other 3 are pretty dreadful and pretentious.

Icklepup · 02/11/2018 22:24

Otis!

Chocolatecake12 · 02/11/2018 16:27

I’ve got an Isaac so that gets my vote!
And 12 years on I still love it and get positive comments on it.
He’s always been the only Isaac in his nursery, then primary and now the only one in his class at secondary although there’s another in his year group now. He’s also the only Isaac in any of his after school clubs.

MrsChristianTrevelyanGrey · 02/11/2018 15:09

Love Arlo :)

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 02/11/2018 14:37

Voting Otto - my SD's friend is called Otto and is without doubt the sweetest, funniest, most awesome little boy I've ever met.

My partner really needs to accept that her daughter and him are only 8 and probably won't get married one day when they're grown up

MaisyPops · 02/11/2018 14:33

Otis, Arlo or Isaac to me. All 3 are lovely

Ontopofthesunset · 02/11/2018 14:12

Arlo - Harlow, Arla (the milk). Sounds unfinished
Otis - lifts, otitis media/externa, the dock of the bay
Isaac - classic, but with a strong Old Testament Jewish heritage, also popular in Cornwall
Otto - very Germanic to my mind (Bismarck etc and the one I know is half German) but I like the fact it's a palindrome.

So for me either Isaac or Otto. They are the least 'faddy'.

Scientistic · 02/11/2018 14:04

Nope! Had a look, ha ha. I know someone with twins with your extra name and one of the ones on the list!

TwoGinScentedTears · 02/11/2018 13:55

Ooh, who knows Scientistic? I've got another thread at the minute that could give me away if you do!!

Scientistic · 02/11/2018 13:47

Twogin ... wonders if we know each other...

Ipanema01 · 02/11/2018 13:26

I like them all lots except Isaac. I almost chose Arlo for my second baby but went for Milo in the end. Otis is top runner for this babe Smile

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 02/11/2018 12:03

Love them all, but issac is my fave

LeeMiller · 02/11/2018 12:03

Arlo is very popular and will date. Isaac is classic. I like Otto but agree with the pp who says it's the most likely to be seen as pretentious.

PetraRabbit · 02/11/2018 10:54

I'd consider Arlo and Isaac to be popular names and I'd guess both will continue to grow in popularity, especially Arlo. I'd never heard the name until a couple of years ago and now I know of about 4 baby Arlos.
I like Otto and Otis a lot. Some people might see Otto as pretentious (not me but it is definitely more of an upper middle class choice) so if you're iffy about that then Otis would be your best choice.

RedDwarves · 02/11/2018 09:02

Isaac and Arlo are as common as muck here in Australia.

Otis is the best.

Sessy19 · 02/11/2018 07:31

Very nice name selection. You can’t really go too far wrong with any of your choices. I’d agree that Arlo had a bit of a popular run in the last few years, so may be more commonplace, depending on where you live

PippilottaLongstocking · 01/11/2018 23:13

Arlo is nice but was recently very popular
I love Otis, Isaac, and Otto

dannydyerismydad · 01/11/2018 22:49

What about Orin?

Hobbes8 · 01/11/2018 22:49

I have an Otis. He’s just super.

CherryValance · 01/11/2018 22:48

Isaac and Otis both great!

evilharpy · 01/11/2018 22:45

Arlo is a name!

I like Otis. I met a toddler called Otis once and he was very cool, really suited his name.

Booskina · 01/11/2018 22:44

Love Arlo

Sophronia · 01/11/2018 21:26

Otis or Otto
