We like Phoebe, but know a couple already. Like the "F" sound though.

What about Leonie? Lee-own-ee. Similar to the pronunciation you like but without the crime reference.

Worriedmummybekind · 30/10/2018 16:24

I immediately thought Felony. Sorry

Flamingosnbears · 30/10/2018 16:06

Philomena is much better and a lot easier to live with

DotForShort · 30/10/2018 15:58

True, true. Though I know something about one of the most popular names at the moment. I suspect it's kind of niche though. I mentioned it once and no-one knew what I was on about.

Were you the one who started that odd thread about the name Olivia?

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 30/10/2018 15:57

There's always Ffion. You could spell it Phphion. Grin

user34903583908 · 30/10/2018 15:43

You're right phucit as my pronounciation would not be what most people would do. Hmm. PHOOD for thought here!

I think I'll draw up a list of PH/F names leaving Phelonie (sigh - sounds so pretty to my ear) out and take if from there.

OP posts:
phucit · 30/10/2018 15:39

You are constantly going to be explaining how to pronounce Phelonie the way you want it pronounced anyway

ShmooBooMoo · 30/10/2018 15:38

I think most are familiar with it. Maybe you could ask others here and get a general idea? I also think Percy/ ie is a nice shortening.

user34903583908 · 30/10/2018 15:34

You might like Persephone with the 'f' sound in the middle? Pronounced Per-sef-on-ee

Pretty. I've heard of that. But I bet I'll have to keep explaining how to pronounce it?

Big, Fat Greek Wedding offers this.

Fotoula (Φωτούλα) not Fatoula. Fotoula is a diminutive of Fotini (Φωτεινή) which means brilliant, bright usually. It could be a diminutive of Theofano though (Θεοφανώ) altough this is an extremely rare name.

The name IS real, albeit unusual one, but I see it's too contentious.

Dear save your child -_- all these names are absolute garbage. All sound like made up names from parents with no intelligence.

user34903583908 · 30/10/2018 15:28

Another site mentioned the Phelonie name is a WOW character too, apparently. Again, I know sod all about video games.

"I would have it pronounced"

Bless you but language doesn't work like that, OP 😂

LethalWhite · 30/10/2018 15:27

Want objective opinions.

It's horrifically bad.
Like passed around as an urban legend -'I know of a kid called, wait for it, Phelonie, like Felony with a PH cue hysterical laughter' - bad.

There you go. An objective opinion.

Have you consider Eejit?

user34903583908 · 30/10/2018 15:26

And lets face it. If I knew it, someone else will and will think of it. do you want them thinking of your daughter that way?

True, true. Though I know something about one of the most popular names at the moment. I suspect it's kind of niche though. I mentioned it once and no-one knew what I was on about. Best kept that way, most likely Grin

Obviously, if the consensus is a bit PHAT NO, I will go with that.

I've been given some super alternatives here, so thanks for that.

If DH and I can't agree, we may have to give up on the F/PH altogether.

Thank God I have three months to get on with this.

If you are trying to make this another 'Balonz' thread, you are failing misrerably OP!
