Isobel

Pixel99 · 27/10/2018 20:56

Isabel, I love this spelling of the name

PlinkPlink · 27/10/2018 20:47

Isobel is the Cornish version. Love that one.

NoughtDegreesNought · 27/10/2018 20:47

I have an Isabel, but Isobel fine with me too - I chose the former because we live in continental Europe and less chance of it being misspelt that way here.

Definitely Isabel in Spanish, it's my friend's middle name and her mother is from Argentina.

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/10/2018 20:44

necessary on a bike?

MajorArcana · 27/10/2018 20:38

I prefer isabel or isobel.
Way toooo many extra letters in isabelle. Makes it frilly.

SoftSheen · 27/10/2018 20:37

schooltripwoes The variant Isabel has been used in both Spain and England for hundreds of years...

Rachie1986 · 27/10/2018 20:35

DH and I had an argument about this when dd was 1 hour old! It's her middle name and DH was convinced it should be Isabel and I was firmly in the Isobel camp.

I won. I'd just given birth!

SoftSheen · 27/10/2018 20:34

Isabel is the Spanish or English spelling.
Isobel is the Scottish spelling.
Isabelle is the French spelling.

All three are 'correct', though personally I prefer Isabel.

Dlux · 27/10/2018 20:33

Isobel (Spanish spelling) or Isabelle (French spelling). Never Isabel.
What @golondrina said.
I think if you are going to use a word such as never you should get the facts right

HollidayArmadillo · 27/10/2018 20:26

Schooltrip Isobel is the Scottish spelling, Isabel is Spanish

golondrina · 27/10/2018 20:25

Isobel is NOT Spanish.

HollidayArmadillo · 27/10/2018 20:25

I have an Isobel so all other spellings look wrong to me
I know of one that spells it 'Izobelle' which is just bloody awful so definitely not that!

golondrina · 27/10/2018 20:25

Isobel (Spanish spelling) or Isabelle (French spelling). Never Isabel.

Hmm, except it's spelt Isabel in Spain.

Nellyelora · 27/10/2018 20:23

Isabelle is 24th most popular name
Isabel is 122nd
Isobel is 149th

I prefer Isobel spelling but given the popularity of Isabelle that may be people's default spelling.

schooltripwoes · 27/10/2018 20:22

Isobel (Spanish spelling) or Isabelle (French spelling). Never Isabel.

MrsNacho · 27/10/2018 20:22

Beautiful name and either spelling is fine. I would probably choose Isobel.

needsanewname · 27/10/2018 20:21

Definitely Isobel. I really dislike it being spelt any other way.

beanaseireann · 27/10/2018 20:19

Isobel

powercutie · 27/10/2018 20:16

I've always liked Isobel

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2018 20:14

Either are fine. I'd probably be more inclined towards Isabel myself.

Both are preferable to the overly-fussy Isabelle.

PearsOfWisdom · 27/10/2018 20:14

I agree with Isabelle or Isobel. Either are lovely.

Ohyesiam · 27/10/2018 20:13

Isobel

Dlux · 27/10/2018 20:12

I would be more inclined towards Annabelle.
