Or neither 😂

I really can’t decide if it is just too fancy and just go for Alyssa or Elisa (so no ‘ia’ sound at the end)

Alyssia

adayatthebeach · 28/10/2018 21:14

Lol ok then you should know!

BettyBoo246 · 28/10/2018 20:36

I’m not asking how should it be pronounced adayat I’m asking for others opinions on the preferred spelling so it doesn’t look too contrived/fussy. I have a name myself that could be pronounced and spelt in many different ways but it did me no serious physiological damage Grin

I know an Elissa is that the name you mean?

As another poster said pronunciation problems are a nightmare for the child

adayatthebeach · 28/10/2018 19:39

Please just name a child a name that there is no question how it’s pronounced. Give the child a break.

Another2day · 28/10/2018 19:33

How about Elise?

PestoSurfissimos · 28/10/2018 17:43

DD’s friend is called Elysia & it’s pronounced Ell-EEE-sea-yuh

1sttimeDD · 28/10/2018 17:40

Not sure this is helpful but I once taught an Elissia. Always thought it was a lovely name and I never witnessed anyone mispronouncing it

FartnissEverbeans · 28/10/2018 17:30

Elysia is beautiful but I would pronounce it eh-LEE-zia, like Elysium in Greek mythology.

sluj · 28/10/2018 09:29

Pretty names but am I the only one who is finding it hard to remember which combination of Ls, As, Es and Ss belong to which little girl? So many children with so many variants of those letters at the moment 🤔

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/10/2018 09:23

I prefer just Alyssa personally but do know two 2 year old Alyssia's strangely

Yvbmioasp · 28/10/2018 08:57

Elysia is so pretty.

Underpressureidiot · 28/10/2018 08:55

I know an Alycia, no one pronounced it Aleesha.

Biologifemini · 28/10/2018 07:54

I would pronounce Elysia in the way the French or Greeks do. So it might cause confusion. It might be better to use Alyssia if you want that pronounciation.

CocoLoco87 · 28/10/2018 07:52

I love Alyssa

BettyBoo246 · 28/10/2018 07:48

I don’t mind Alessia either but think that has a slightly different sound to Alyssia, more LESS-IA than LISS-IA
The problem is I’m overthinking it soooo much I start doubting i should have it 🙁

I know an Elicia and I also like Alycia. I’ve put a lot of thought into the name as I was contemplating adding it as a middle name (for myself!) by deed pole when I was younger.

Yika · 27/10/2018 23:38

Alyssia. It looks pretty.

Shadow1234 · 27/10/2018 23:35

Prefer Alyssa

TurquoiseDress · 27/10/2018 22:47

Why not Alessia- that's the Italian spelling I know of

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2018 22:18

Alyssa.

The 'ia' versions are a bit too fussy IMO.

Sophronia · 27/10/2018 21:37

Alyssa or Alissia

AtSea1979 · 27/10/2018 21:00

Alyssa or Alicia for me too

Peachbubble · 27/10/2018 20:59

I prefer Elisa

Surf4life · 27/10/2018 19:54

I really like both, although I prefer Elysia
