For a girl. Which one do you prefer?

I'm not a fan of Nova.

I love Mika, I think it's cute and spunky, and a little different. I also like Misha.

Ezri made me think of Ezra at first, it's not something I've heard before, but I actually think it sounds beautiful and would work for a little girl and a grown woman.

FartnissEverbeans · 27/10/2018 09:49

Are they actually names? I don’t know any kids named any of them.

Of course if they fall outside of your own narrow range of experience then they basically don’t exist

These names all seem fairly inoffensive to me but I think they’re falling victim to the usual Mumsnet knee jerk ‘EWW I NEVER HEARD OF IT IS IT FORRIN’ reaction.

Nova is quite pretty but very much associated with the car. Mika is a really nice name imo. Ezri is very similar to Ezra and I think I’ve seen it before on a Turkish girl, spelled Esri. I like it.

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 26/10/2018 12:55

Nova is the best of the three. It's not great though IMO.

MonkeyToucher · 26/10/2018 12:12

For a girl? None of these.... Nova at a push

SemperIdem · 24/10/2018 13:55

I know someone with baby Nova.

Cosmoa · 24/10/2018 13:48

Those are 3 of my favorite name! My daughters name is a mix of a few of those lol.

I love Mika the most (pronounced mee-ka) but my friend who lives in France (she's not French though) is named that and was due at the same time as me so we were in touch a lot.. Therefore I didn't feel like I could use it. But like I said my daughters name is similar anyway.

Ezri was the name of the baby girl next to us in the postnatal ward. I've also met a baby Nova!!!

PiperPublickOccurrences · 24/10/2018 13:34

Mika is the pop singer who hat a hit with "Grace Kelly". Most definitely male.

Ezri looks like you were trying for Ezra, and spelled it wrong. Ezra is a boy's name.

Nova - champagne Supernova, the Vauxhall car, or "no va" in Spanish.

Icklepup · 24/10/2018 11:59

Ezri/e

BikeRunSki · 24/10/2018 06:00

I really like Nova. I know a 2 year old with this name.
The car hasn’t been made for years!

BarryTheKestrel · 24/10/2018 05:53

Nova. Don't like the others, but I do like Nova. However when I was considering it DH vetoed it because of the car.

BigGreenOlives · 24/10/2018 04:59

I knew a female Mika when I was at school, she’ll be a doctor now. She was Indian. I wouldn’t choose Nova as I’d always think of the car or Ezri as it looks like Ezra gone wrong.

MemoryOfSleep · 24/10/2018 04:42

Nova is the only one which isn't masculine to me, so I guess that one.

Sungura · 24/10/2018 04:04

Ezri is really nice, I meant to say. Darned auto correct!

Sungura · 24/10/2018 04:03

Emrick IS really nice and my favorite, but it is a boy's name; it's not the feminine of Ezra. Just so you know. It's a contemporary Israeli version of the name. Of the other two I prefer Nova to Mika. In Mika all I hear is Meek. I like stronger names for girls.

GinIsIn · 24/10/2018 03:12

No

OlennasWimple · 24/10/2018 02:34

I know a baby Nova, who is utterly lovely. And a Mieke (said Mee-kah) who is also utterly lovely

Neither are British, though, if that makes any difference to anything

HungryForSnacks · 24/10/2018 01:58

How about Michaela? Then you can call her Mika for short

Shadow1234 · 24/10/2018 01:44

I really like Mika - prefer it pronounced mee-kah (sounds better for a girl) rather than My-kah (which sounds more masculine)
Also know a girl who spells it Mica.

SuperstarDJ · 24/10/2018 01:36

None. Mika & Ezri sounds like boys names to me & Nova is a car.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 24/10/2018 01:32

My cats called Nova

NarcolepticOuchMouse · 24/10/2018 01:07

All great names for a dog

IzzyGrey · 24/10/2018 01:03

Nova is quite cool

binkyblinky · 24/10/2018 00:28

Please, don't!!

riviana · 24/10/2018 00:25

Ezri Dax from "Deep Space Nine".

JakePeraltaNYPD · 23/10/2018 23:56

I love Mika, reminds me of the Waterloo Road character :)
