Connor or Cillian??

Hello!!

So I have found out we are having a baby boy and I love both of the names, and I really can't decide which to go for?
So do you prefer Cillian or Connor, a bit of public feedback always helps me before deciding on a name!

Cillian! I only know nice Cillian's and my ex is a Conor  (one n)

Conor but it was very popular in the UK about 20 yrs ago.
Cillian will be said as Sillian in the UK.
Both are probably fine in Ireland.

It's pronounced "Kill-yun" xx

May still make Ian nervous though 🤣

Do you pronounce it Kill Ian or Killi an? It’s one of those names I’ve seen written down but never heard pronounced.

Who says it has to be major? He’s a cult celebrity because of Peaky Blinders, Anthropoid etc and for reasons I cannot understand a lot of women are obsessed with him.

Might not be the “traditional” spelling but we are happy. Especially as things named in gift shops are spelled this way

Around the time of Oasis onwards Liam’s popularity rocketed in the U.K. and US. (Perhaps equally influenced by Liam Neeson). So there’s a whole generation with loads of Liams. In the US it’s still the no.1 most popular name, whereas in the U.K. it has fallen so it feels a bit dated here.

Cillian seems set to follow the same trajectory.

All of which is a shame as both Liam and Cillian were orginally nice Irish names.

The problem with naming kids after celebrities or celebrities children is that it then dates horribly.

Cillian is set to be the new Liam. Which is a shame as they’re both nice Irish names.

Well, there are more Conors really, because a Conor could be 2 or 55.

Cillian, the age spread is largely under 20
