Isadora or Evangeline?

We were set on Evangeline for dd2 but just stumbled across Isadora and we both love it. Just don’t know which one we love more so opinions welcome

tatianalarina I love Juno but feels a bit matchy with dd1’s name. I think I’ve swung back towards Isadora again

I absolutely LOVE Isadora. Plus Evangeline, whilst pretty, is really just another little Evie once she starts Reception.

Isadora is beautiful. Not keen on Evangeline. It's the Vange sound in the middle.
I would use Dory as a nickname for a little one, so cute.

You were totally ahead of the trend before - there were only 104 babies named Margot in England and Wales in 2014! - so I would be tempted to avoid Evangeline as it seems to be getting quite popular.

As I’ve said before (on your previous post I think) my daughter is Effie (Evelyn on bc) because I don’t like Evie. If you want her to be known as Effie, get it in early! Same with Isadora-if you want her to be Dora rather than Issie, make it known from day one!
As whole names I think I prefer Isadora but out of the nicknames I prefer Effie, so it depends which you will be using most?

marcipex I’m not sure, it just don’t feel complete to me and is much more of a nickname in my eyes. Also, thank you!

Margot is lovely.
I like Isadora , but both names are pretty. However, about half of any primary school is now called Eve, Eva, Evangelina etc.
I'm confused about Effie, if that's the name you like, why not use it?
Margot and Effie.

Isadora is much, much nicer.

Evangeline makes me think of Angela, evangelise, margarine. The central 'vange' sounds just isn't very nice, like flange or mange.

Evelyn is much nicer IMO. Even Angelica. Or Vivienne / Viviana if you like the 'v'.

I’m so indecisive... after my pp I was pretty much set on Isadora but the nn Effy that could be used for Evangeline (if it’s used for Elizabeth why not Wink) is swaying me back to the middle. Would it be a bad idea to ask dd1 who is 4 or toss a coin or something Blush
Also dd1’s name is Margot is that changes anything

Isadora sounds like something out of Harry Potter. Evangeline is better.

I think we’re leaning towards Isadora. Much prefer nn Dora to Eva. We’re thinking Juno as a middle name and I like it more each time I say it!

Isadora! Evangeline is a bit mediocre... If it was rarer it would be nice but it's one of those long and previously rare names ruined by getting a bit too popular (like Florence)

Maybe think how they could be shortened over time by the child or there friends/family.

Evangeline - Eva
Isadora - Izzie, Dora

On that basis I'd go for Evangeline

They have the same number of syllables, but Evangeline is much longer and the consonants seem softer in it, notwithstanding the "v". Isadora is punchier with the "s" that sounds more like a "z" and the "d".
