I have always adored the name Max but it is a compete and unchanging no from my DH has anyone got any suggestions of a similar kind of name I could fall in love with? I thought about Rex, but it just doesn't seem the same :( all suggestions welcome x

Hubby is Maxwell...

Baxter?
Alex or Lex?
Jack

I really wanted Max for DS2 but it just didn’t sound right with our surname, we settled on Zach in the end as it’s a similar vibe.

Oooh I love Ike (short for Isaac) and Zac, and Ace!!
Thanks everyone, some great suggestions.

The more I think about Zac the more I like it. Is it very popular now though?

Definitely Zac, I know a pair of brothers who are Max and Zac.

I have a Max and really love Felix. I’d have def used Felix if we hadn’t gone with Max, both awesome names

thighofrelief · 20/10/2018 14:44

I also think whoever pushes out the rugby ball names the child 👶🏽

Oh what a bummer over a long forgotten shag, oh well. Nearly the same thing happened to me with my other son's name, i remembered to keep my mouth shut and got away with it. Only my mum twigged and i just gave her a puzzled look and said, hmm no, you must be thinking of my sisters bf. Grin

Also love Magnus and Dash!

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions (though none that live up to the wonderful Max). The fact that all your little Max's love their names names me even more sad :(
I like your suggestions @BikeRunSki I Like Axel, Milo, Felix, all good names, and a few more mentioned.
In fact I really like Felix!!

@joan12 unfortunately I made the stupid mistake of telling him ages ago that a guy I slept with once was called Max (I forget this guy ever existed it was so insignificant and has in no way put me off the name but I can see why DH isn't keen :(

And i wish i had been brave enough for Maximilian, i love it.

joan12 · 19/10/2018 22:00

Why does your H dislike it? Would he prefer a longer name eg. Maxim with Max as a nn? I know quite a few Maxes and their brothers are Henry, Harry, Finn, Tom, Monty and Dash (Dashiell). What about Will, Leo, Zach or Fox for a strong, short name.

thighofrelief · 19/10/2018 21:57

I just love Max, i have one and his brother is jealous. Anyway so maybe you have similar taste to me:

Guy
Luke
Milo
Linus
Conrad
Thomas

I really like Jack and Jake but too overused for my taste atm.

Mummaluelae · 19/10/2018 21:57

Op is it the x in the name you like?
I knew a boy called maximillian, his parents shortened it to max but he preferred to be called billy Confused

slollipop · 19/10/2018 21:52

I like Rex - also Lex.
