Meghan and Harry's baby will be called....

Roll up! Roll up! All those unashamed to be inappropriately obsessing about a new Royal baby name welcome here!

As Harry and his desecendants are rapidly becoming outnumbered by the Cambridge side of the family they have much less to worry about in terms of a suitable name for a monarch, therefore, within reason they can be bit more free and creative, but still relatively formal.

I wish we could place bets but in the meantime I invite you to have a REALISTIC stab at naming the new Sussex baby.

We can have Stacie (Anastasia) or Fred (Frederick) but I will go with

Girl: Alexandra
Boy: Leo

1 boys name and 1 girls name each please no massive lists of Royals since Ethelbert!

I am due around the same time

We haven’t decided on names yet but will be royally pissed off if they get in first with our chosen name!

I'm a little worried they'll use our top choice of Rosa. Classic name but also good links to Rosa Parks and other strong women from history.

Well we have no idea what Meghan will want. My guess however, as she is smart and well educated, is that she will be only too aware that her child will be focus of worldwide attention as a mixed-race royal child. She will know her kid will have to navigate very different audiences in the UK and the US for example, just as she has had to do as someone of mixed heritage. Therefore I'm guessing she will either go extremely neutral and simple such as John, or anything else they chose will not be super "posh" or "very English" that's why I was thinking something like Leo. Leopold was used by Queen Victoria for one of her sons so it's very Royal but also Leo is currently popular in both UK and the USA and is a simple name used in a lot of cultures.

Even Harry until Prince Harry came along would've been considered, very, very old fashioned by most people in the USA and very "left field". There are obvious exceptions such as Harry Conick Jr. but he was named after his father. So there are lots of names that are still used in the UK and considered "classic" that do not have the popularity in the US. Georgina for example is considered a great-grandma name unless you are Hispanic.

Of course they are not going to call the baby Alfie. The British royal family doesn't do cutesy diminutives and the Americans don't do them either.

Alfie is just not considered a cute name in America the way It is in Britain, I can’t see Meghan going for it personally. In fact any names that have a distinctly unique British cutesy feel are just as unlikely to crossover successfully.

Alfie (as Will & Kate couldn’t use it for Louis due to baby Alfie Evans being in the news)

For a girl, either Caroline (like Charlotte, it is a feminine form of Charles) or something not considered a traditional royal name.
Or Rose?

I think that they will want to honour their mothers if possible.

Girl Theodora (after Meghan's mother Doria) Diana, maybe with a name inbetween to break up the "D" sounds. Or Diana Theodora.

Boy Theodore (after Doria) Francis (Diana's middle name was Frances). Or Francis Theodore.
