What about Beatrix? I love the nickname Bea! Do you pronounce the name Bee-a-trix, Bee-trix or like Beer-trix? And what sort of girl would you imagine to have this name? Thank you!

It’s my youngest DD’s name (she’s six). Never met another which I’m thrilled about and it suits her well. I tried to get Bea to stick but Trixie was always the natural NN. She goes by her full name most of the time though.

Much prefer Beatrice. More elegant.

Sort of like, Bee uh trix but the uh is barely there so it almost sounds like Beer trix.

I love it. It sounds more kick ass than Beatrice but I like both.

I would like to be called it.

Much prefer Beatrice - sounds softer.

To me Bee-a-trix and Beer-trix sound almost identical. Gorgeous name.

I knew a Beatrix who always went by Trixie.
Nice name and I prefer it to Beatrice.

I say bee-trix , Scottish if that makes a difference.

I'm personally not a fan , although I do think Bea is a cute nn.

Eleanor90 · 15/10/2018 07:36

Love! It’s so much feistier than Beatrice. I say Beer-trix too.

StrugglingMumma · 15/10/2018 07:32

Seems to be a popular name at the moment.. lovely though!

Aethelthryth · 15/10/2018 07:18

Beer-trix. Absolutely lovely. More interesting than Beatrice, although that's nice too

LeeMiller · 15/10/2018 07:10

Beer-trix. It's a nice name but I prefer Beatrice - be-a-tris - which I think lends itself more naturally to Bea. With Beatrix there's a good chance she'll end up as Trixie, which makes me think of a show pony.
