Hi all,
What are people's thoughts on the name Ida for a girl? It's our first baby, due in 6 weeks. DH absolutely loves the name but I'm yet to be convinced! I'm a bit worried it's going to become really popular...?
Thanks!!

Ada for me is the ooooone but never thought of Ida, really like that too!
The worrying about it becoming popular, I mean, why worry about it, aaaaany name can, you just cant tell? X

I'm not fond of Ida, Ada, or Edna... all rather inelegant imo.

bridgetreilly · 15/10/2018 01:03

It's lovely and no, I don't think it will be too popular.

namechangedtoday15 · 14/10/2018 23:10

Sorry meant pronunciation is Eye-da or Eh-da.

Shadow1234 · 14/10/2018 23:10

I think its short and sweet.

Please dont go with Edna - my 87 year old mums name - and she hated it that much, she used her middle name instead.

GulliverUnravels · 14/10/2018 23:08

I love it - partly because I know an Ida (pron eeda) and she's lovely. Not quite as keen on the eye-da pronunciation but it's a nice name either way.

Love Ida but I had a Great Aunty Ida when I was growing up. It's popular at the moment (also with the Ayda spelling) through Mrs Robbie Williams - although pronunciation can be Eye-da or Eye-da.

Down.

NameChange30 · 14/10/2018 23:00

I like it, but if you’re not convinced you shouldn’t use it.

What names do you like?

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2018 22:57

No, it's as bad as Edna. And that's bad.

Ada is OK though.

Sunflower321 · 14/10/2018 22:55

Is Ida pronounced Eeda?

RavenWings · 14/10/2018 22:32

Love Ida and Ada (though I think they're a bit too similar to Ava for me). Please don't use Edna.

SueDunome · 14/10/2018 22:25

Love Ida and Ada, or even Edna.
