What are your thoughts on Owen?

I don't think it's exclusively Welsh though, my grandfather was from Eastern England and no Welsh connections, and that was over 100 years ago he was given the name. Especially not with the Anglicised spelling.

I'm not concerned about Owen Jones as I don't think the name is unique enough to immediately make you think of only one person.
I am wondering if it's TOO welsh though? Would it seem odd to use in SE England? I wonder if people will question why we've chosen a name when we have no association with Wales.

I do quite like it. Very Welsh. It was my grandfather's name (born 1910) yet I don't think of it as dated.

I like Owen. I think of Owen from greys anatomy who is a war vet and great trauma surgeon so not a bad namesake.

Love Owen, where we live there are lots of Eoins/Eoghans, so poor child would probably spend their whole life correcting people re: spelling!

Owain may be the Welsh language spelling but mostly it's spelt Owen in Wales.

I like it. If you don't have welsh or irish connections I'd just stick with Owen.

Really like it, considered it for DS.

Personally I'd stick with Owen as a spelling though, as you mention no Irish connections I think it would just over complicate things

My boss is called Owen. He is nice enough, but not exactly manly. I would say though that my expectation otherwise would be that Owen would be a manly man.

I like it. Not wet at all. I've always thought of it as more Welsh than Irish, although I think both languages have versions of it.

I think that the Irish spelling might be Eoin? I could be wrong though. Irish language spelling isn't my forte (nor is Welsh).

I like it spelled Owen or Owain, personally. I'm not sure how the Welsh spell it. Maybe someone can tell us.
