I suddenly fell in love with the name Jade, but one of my friends said it might remind people of strippers or prostitutes. I know that a name can never represent the person, but it's still a bit worrying to think that the name has such a negative link to it. What comes to your mind when you see "Jade"?

Or would you rather prefer "Jenna"?

If there are any other names that start with J (apart from Jennifer), you are very welcome to share ;)

Your friend is right- I think of stripper types women

Yes it sounds 'common' to me too. I don't like it at all, though I went to school with one who was a bully, so that may influence my opinion.

I like Jenna, but I hate Jade. Jade is a name with a tacky reputation where I live.

To me it sounds ‘common’, sorry I know that’s snobby but my first thought is lower class.

DarkLikeVader · 13/10/2018 22:47

I love Jenna. Or how about Juliet? I found out jade was in the dictionary meaning tired old horse and that made me hate the name tbh.

Secretmystery · 13/10/2018 22:43

I like it. Crisp, simple, pretty.

I also like Jayne.

And Jean.

DramaAlpaca · 13/10/2018 22:38

It's a perfectly nice name, as is Jenna. Not overly exciting but nothing wrong with either of them.

BlackStar7 · 13/10/2018 22:38

I think the name Julianna is pretty and quite unusual. I also love Juliette.

pinkunicorn20 · 13/10/2018 22:37

If you love it then use it. I don't see the connection between prostitutes and strippers myself.

BlackStar7 · 13/10/2018 22:36

I love the name Jade. I've also got a lovely friend called Jade.

Pemba · 13/10/2018 22:34

I don't know, it's OK. Not so fashionable as it used to be I think.

The precious stone jade is a nice image. I also think of Mick Jaggers daughter. Also someone with a cold trying to say 'Jane'.

Josephine and shorten it to Josie
