Felix?

Ok so I know there is the cat food but aside from that, if you’re friend announced they’d had a baby boy - Felix, what would be your thoughts?

Also what would you expect siblings to be called? Trying to see if it fits with our DDs name as they don’t need to match but don’t want it to seem like an odd combination

Felixstowe is what I think of!

AliceRR · 13/10/2018 19:13

Makes me think of a cat

MimiSunshine · 13/10/2018 19:09

@timeisnotaline love those

I like it.

LividAtDolphins · 13/10/2018 11:16

I love it, one of my favourite names.

MollyHuaCha · 13/10/2018 09:32

I like Felix. Means 'lucky' in Latin.

timeisnotaline · 13/10/2018 09:24

I’ve heard fox used and fix. Both are quite nice.

MrsGollach · 13/10/2018 09:16

Yes. We know one Felix who's name has been shortened to "miaow"

bakebakebake · 13/10/2018 07:54

Hasn't been shortened here.. I can't see how it could be either. But mine is still a little baby so it's better for him to hear his actual name.

Plus we're not a nickname family.. Our eldest is called Oliver. He's never been called Olly. He doesn't like it when someone else does! He's 6 btw.

YoureOnOurTerfNow · 13/10/2018 07:23

I have a Felix. We shorten to Fe.
Never had a cat comment.

MimiSunshine · 13/10/2018 07:21

Thanks all, for those who have a Felix (or know one) does the name ever get shortened?

I’m not really bothered by shortening, our DDs name has obvious nicknames but her full name is only ever used but just wondered if Felix had some obvious or unfortunate ones I was missing.

All I can see is a cat running across a piano 🙈

Picknickers · 12/10/2018 22:57

A colleague has Felix Oscar and Imogen. Felix is about 16. Nice boy.

Jumbojem · 12/10/2018 22:24

I have a 9 year old Felix so obviously love it! Weirdly come across far more Felix's than theo, which is his brother's name. Only people who go on about it being a cat's name are older folk in my experience. None of his school friends mention cats or cat food. It's a classic Latin name meaning " happy" what's not to like?! He certainly lives up to it (most of the time!).

BikeRunSki · 12/10/2018 22:16

I like it, but I am biased by a very sweet 4 year old.

Sophronia · 12/10/2018 22:12

Cats name. Siblings would be Milo, Jasper, Otis, Tabitha, Jemima, Imogen

Angelf1sh · 12/10/2018 18:50

I really don’t like it. I think it’s in the same pretentious-sphere as Hugo and I hated the Felix the Cat cartoon as a child.

DryIce · 12/10/2018 18:48

I love it! I wanted it, but husband said no for cat reasons

Jasperoonicle · 12/10/2018 18:47

If I could go back in time I would have Felix and Rupert here. Love Felix!

MimiSunshine · 12/10/2018 18:45

Seems more liked than not. 👍🏻

I get the cat thing is quite strong but we don’t have a cat so I’d just shrug and think people were unoriginal if it was commented on to our faces.

But then we also like Milo and that gets ‘it’s a dogs name’ all the time too 🤷‍♀️

My littlest is Felix!
DH suggested it and I fell in love with it.

Our other two are both in the top five popular names, nobody has ever commented on his name.

But even if they did, I don't care because I love it and it suits him!

JosellaPlayton · 12/10/2018 18:34

We have one in the family. I don’t think anyone except for the parents particularly likes it but it’s not awful. His sister is Sienna.

VickieCherry · 12/10/2018 18:32

I love it, but partner has vetoed. I might still insist though...

We do have two cats who eat Felix, so I can see it might be odd.

MrsGollach · 12/10/2018 18:31

Are you having a kitten?

Peachbubble · 12/10/2018 18:30

I like it. Siblings would be Finn, Poppy, Imogen, Jude.
