I love it, but prefer it spelt Bryher, like the island in the Scilly Isles.

I used to know a beautiful little girl with the name Bryher, and her surname was Rose, so she was Bryher Rose (which I always thought was gorgeous!)

It's truly horrendous. Briars are thorny plants in the undergrowth, roses have thorns so Rose as a middle name for Briar just sounds daft, plus it rhymes with liar & is similar to Brian. Just no.

Briars are like brambles. It's a word for a category of thorny, woody weeds that grow into thick, dense, impenetrable, bushy traps for plastic bags and other rubbish.

Who on earth would ask a beautiful baby girl’s name and then say ‘what Brian?!’ Hmm
My cousin is called Bryony, goes by Bry, it suits her.
I think Briar is a lovely name. Probably wouldn’t put it with Rose though but another short middle name such as Briar Pearl, Briar Joy, Briar June etc

Definitely not

Makes me think of Friar as in Friar tuck.

Briar reminds me of Blair as in Tony Blair

A definite no no there.

There are nicer names imo.

So yes, I also think of thorny bushes likes brambles.

I've only ever heard Briar used on spaniels and terriers. It's quite a popular name for posh people's dogs.

I went to school with a Briar, never thought anything of it. It was never confused for Brian, there were no Sleeping Beauty connotations among her peers (maybe adults thought this though?), and her nickname was Bree.
I think it is a really pretty name! Although I didn’t know about the shrub.

I don't like it, sorry. I have two thoughts when I hear it , It instantly made me think of sleeping beauty (even before I read the Rose part lol.) It was my favourite film as a child but it still doesn't make me like it as a baby name .
It also was making me think of Robin hood for some reason so I had to Google, it's Friar Tuck it's making me think of 😂 don't know why.

It's also too much like Brian for me, which is also not a nice name lol.

So, no sorry, I don't like it !

Prefer the Cornish spelling if Bryher. Quite a popular name in the south west as people have said because of the Isles of Scilly. I think it's elegant.

Briar Rose is Sleeping Beauty (but also Aurora depending on the version you read..). Not uncommon as a girls’ or boys’ name in North America. I like it. None of the Briars I know have been called Bri.

Also, people won't think of Brian! Maybe a few adults might but how many children have a friend/sibling etc called Brian nowadays? It's got to be dying out. In fact there were probably more Briars named in the last few years than Brian's! I read recently that the name was gaining in popularity (although still uncommon). Whereas how many little baby Brian's have you heard of? (The Brian Rose comment about did make me laugh though!)

I love it! The name Sleeping Beauty chose apparently! It's actually a very old fashioned name, not made up at all. Also Rachel Bilsons daughter is called Briar Rose and she's really cool!

Briars are what you often find growing in gardens that have been neglected for years. People hack them down with machetes and then you have to dig them out.

And you can't inflict a Disney name like Briar Rose on a child.

There are so many other names out there. Even something like Ethel would be nicer.

I really like it.

I know what Briar means, and it's a known (if not, common) girls's name, but I would avoid Briar Rose for the Sleeping Beauty connection.

I love a lot of the simpler B names - Briony, Brooke, Blythe, etc. I think they're less frilly than a lot of the more well-used names these days, but still feminine.

I say go for it, but perhaps with a more syllabic middle name - Elizabeth, Persephone/Penelope, Aurelia, Felicity, etc.
