I'm in the minority, but I much prefer Piper to Pippa.

I see Pippa as a bit of a nothing name. It's cutesy and chirpy sounding, but it has no substance. Piper is altogether different.

Piper sounds squeeky and random.

Piper, Drummer, Flautist and Fiddler are going to Pianist's birthday party on Saturday.

Who pays the Piper calls the tune.

I suppose that it's a surname as first name, but as such it works no better than any occupation surname as a first name - Butcher, Baker, Smith, Carpenter, Farmer...

Why on earth would anyone choose to name their child Piper?!

Job names sound so odd. Mason is another one. Just ew.

Pippa - I've known 2 (different ages/context ) both lovely - one it was a nn from philippa the other wasn a Penelope but her mum wanted Pippa as nn and it stuck....

Piper is ok but not as good as Pippa

I think Pippa is much nicer.

Piper makes me think of a bagpipe player and I'm not keen on occupation type names.

Pippa, so long as it's short for Philippa. Piper sounds quite American to me.

Pippa. definitely don't have a Pippa so not at all biased Grin I didn't know about the slang terms until she was a few months old but I'm not bothered, still love it.

I love Philippa and prefer the nn Piper to Pippa, even though i know it’s a standalone name as well. Definitely prefer a longer name on the birth certificate, but that’s just personal preference.
