Middle name for Aurora

EffieP · 04/10/2018 16:18

Aurora is a strong contender for our daughter but I’m not sure if the middle names we like go with it? Daisy, Lily, Margot, Willow and Xanthe, leaning more towards Margot or Willow. Does it matter if they don’t flow? Suggestions welcome.

I never said I was leaving, you are proper making me laugh, thank you Grin

EffieP · 07/10/2018 11:10

As in I started it. Bit rich coming from someone who knows how everyone feels about every name. I thought you were leaving anyway? This is just childish but I don’t mind indulging, if not!

Good lord, you don’t own a thread! How hilarious!

EffieP · 07/10/2018 10:56

My thread, mate. Jog on if you don’t want to read it 👍🏼

And yet you are still going on at me Grin

EffieP · 07/10/2018 10:53

Not at all, I didn’t ask for opinions as we’re happy with our first name options. I’m sure there are people out there who would pull a face at your son’s name too but you would have gone through many names and feel you chose the right one for him.

I just find the real joke to be people thinking they can be rude (online) and dress it up as an opinion. I don’t care if you don’t like the name but there was no need for the holier than thou attitude because you don’t. Just move along because all you’re comment has achieved is a waste of both our times.

Chill out Effie! If you think it’s a nice name then crack on with it.
Clearly struck a nerve for whatever reason Confused

EffieP · 07/10/2018 10:38

Yes, I have opinions like everyone else and there are names I don’t like out there but I also respect that other people do. I don’t believe that everyone else must share my opinion or they lack taste if I don’t. You can’t dress up rudeness with “everyone has an opinion” As I said, get off your high horse or go and find a thread that actually asked for opinions on Aurora. You could share your expert knowledge with someone that actually wants it.

My child is a boy so I daresay that would attract even more attention! But best of luck to you with this one

EffieP · 07/10/2018 10:29

Anyone*

Anyway, I asked for middle name suggestions. Why don’t you offer your child’s name up for one? It’ll perhaps balance things out a bit and save my daughter’s potential name from looking like a joke seeing as you have taste and I don’t.

WhatFreshHellisCis · 07/10/2018 10:28

Effie, everybody judges names. It’s a simple basic fact, to a greater or lesser degree. You’ll have read baby name books or threads and been Confused Grin yourself!! Don’t be disingenuous

EffieP · 07/10/2018 10:26

I guess all the other people with a child called Aurora, a name more popular than your own child’s? Perhaps you should get off your high horse and realise your opinion isn’t one that everyone has to follow. It’s one thing to not like a name but to call it a joke is another as is saying anything who likes it lacks taste.

I think Jasmine compliments Aurora nicely but it’s probably a bit too Disney princess lol.

Aurora Jasmine is nice.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/10/2018 09:34

Aurora Valentine.

EffieP · 07/10/2018 09:29

I’m guessing so too. It’s an interesting sense of humour to have it a top 100 name makes you laugh. I don’t mean anything against the names (as I think they are beautiful) but having cared for at least 10 little girls called Amelia and Isabella (each), I’ve decided to not bring another into the world.

She or he I should say...

Cosmoa · 07/10/2018 09:23

I'm guessing she means that she's got a plain taste in names so anything else seems like a joke...

EffieP · 07/10/2018 09:15

What do you mean, a joke?

OP posts:
WhatFreshHellisCis · 07/10/2018 09:13

I do sometimes wonder if these threads are jokes Grin

EffieP · 07/10/2018 09:11

I’d like her to have a middle name. Everyone I know has them so I wouldn’t want her to not. I don’t think any of these sound terrible (I like a lot of them actually) plus there has got to be a few names out there, out of the many that are, that flows with it lol.

I’ve worked with children so I’ve seen a lot of names and not a lot of them flow well. They don’t differ in syllable count or avoid running vowels and if doesn’t seem to affect them. My own name doesn’t sound great when said out loud but it hasn’t held me back and nobody knows it’s because my middle name is my mum’s name when first hearing it. That’s why I originally asked if it mattered. It’s all subjective anyway as not everyone likes certain names. If you find Aurora a mouthful on it’s own then you’re going to find it difficult finding another name that compliments it, for example.

Does she "need" a middle name ?

Reading through the suggestions I can't find any that flow very well. Aurora is quite a mouthful evwn on it's own, I actually find it quite hard to say, that might be because im Scottish and all the 'rrr' sounds. So to me a middle name would just be even more of a mouthful

BakedBeans47 · 07/10/2018 00:22

I think it goes best with a short middle name. I like Aurora Niamh

Beeziekn33ze · 07/10/2018 00:20

I think Aurora needs a two syllable muddle name with the emphasis on the second syllable.
