Would you think these sibling names are weirdly similar?

Our DS is called Heath. DD is due shortly and the only name we've found that we both really like is Thea.

I think they're too similar, given that Thea is basically an anagram of Heath, minus one letter.

DH thinks that that, whilst the letters are obviously similar, they sound completely different, so it's fine.

Thoughts? Would you find a brother and sister with these names a bit odd, or are they different enough in sound (as most people hear names rather than see them written down) that you wouldn't notice?

Clara is lovely. Congratulations!

Bristolgal · 08/10/2018 04:12

Great choice! Heath and Clara are perfect together!

Huge congratulations! 💖

AhoyDelBoy · 08/10/2018 00:58

Clara 😍 Cwawa, simply adorable.

Congrats on little (beautifully named) Clara, OP Smile

flybabyfly · 06/10/2018 15:33

Lovely name, OP, congratulations! Flowers

LittleGreenStar · 06/10/2018 14:33

Thanks all! You're very kind

God, I'd forgotten how lovely baby snuggles are. I mean toddler hugs are great but there's a lot less being accidentally kicked in the head and far more contented sighs with a newborn.

(DS is pleased with name choice but can't pronounce the 'l' or the 'r' in it, which has meant some pretty cute "Cwawa" moments so far)

Congratulations! Clara is lovely.

thethoughtfox · 06/10/2018 14:11

If you shout Heath Thea, it sounds a bit lispy.

Icklepup · 06/10/2018 14:05

NorthernRunner · 06/10/2018 11:47

Clara is perfect.
Congratulations xx

PutABobbleIn · 06/10/2018 11:45

Wouldn’t notice at all.
I know a Harrison and a Madison sibling set think that does sound way too match’s and strange!
Your choices are lovely op

anotherbabygirl · 06/10/2018 11:45

Sound completely different!

LittleGreenStar · 06/10/2018 11:44

Thank you!!! It was, and she arrived safely and (pretty) smoothly and has been snuggled up against me pretty much ever since Smile Sorry, no wifi in hospital and have been mostly just grinning at her! And yes, lots of Cake so far and maybe some Wine later!

And because I hate an inconclusive thread, we have decided to call her...Clara! In the end she just didn't look to us like she was a "Thea", and Clara's made a re-entry from one of my earlier lists when DH remembered he quite liked it too and it's pretty similar let's face it

littlegreenstar, I ‘think’ that today was THE day. Hope your csection went well and your DD is snuggled with you safe and well.

Flowers and Cake.... the Wine should maybe wait a day or two?!

DancerOnIce · 03/10/2018 13:03

I don’t think they sound too similar and are both lovely names. But as previous posters have said I think I’d find it difficult to say “Heath and Thea”

Joinourclub · 03/10/2018 12:18

What about:

Taya
Mia
Elsa
Lyra

Kewqueue · 03/10/2018 12:05

I think the bigger problem is that if you have a third child you will have to choose another anagram so they don't feel left out!

LeeMiller · 03/10/2018 12:03

For me it's not the anagram issue, it's just hard to say the two th sounds together .

Could you have Theodora or Dorothea NN Dora / Dottie?

Rebellia · 03/10/2018 10:48

What about Esther? Theodora? Dorothy/Dorothea?

tartanscot · 03/10/2018 08:46

I think they sound too similar, sorry! Good luck Thanks

LittleGreenStar · 03/10/2018 07:02

@Tobermory oh thank you, that's kind, but it's absolutely fine - you weren't rude at all, and I asked for opinions!
