Short girls names

We have already decided on the name Owen if we have a boy, but I'm struggling with girls names. Ideally looking for something short and non-frilly that isn't right at the top of popularity charts. I think two syllables works best with our surname. What's your opinions on these?:

Lara
Zara
Lois
Erin
Nina

And maybe Bethan

Any other ideas would be welcomed! 😊

Alyce? A different spelling of Alice to stand out

dancingbee · 03/10/2018 10:42

Also really liking the look of Thea and Anya from the suggestions.
I quite like Emma and Lucy but don't know if these remind me too much of the girls my age that I grew up with!
Love Rowan @IAmALamp but this was actually on our boys list!

Love Bethan but I can't use as it's DH's cousins name, but it's so underused and lovely

I also really like Lara and Zara from your list, slightly prefer Lara

Erin is nice too though a bit more popular

I really don't like Nina, though I'm not sure why

Lois is ok but makes me think of Family Guy

Renaming · 03/10/2018 00:35

Love Erin and Zara.

I have a friend with a darling daughter named Marlowe, which shares some letters with Owen...

Rowan?

dancingbee · 02/10/2018 21:43

Thanks all for the suggestions! It's so tricky!...
I think Zara is probably top of the list at the moment. But when I've googled Zara with our surname it comes up with some elite adult services! 😳. Don't know if that's going to put me off! Hoping that company might not exist by the time baby Google's themselves 🤔

Really like Lois, Nina and Lara. Especially Lois. I have only ever known 1 Lois (other than Lois Lane) she was a friend's big sister when we were kids and she was super-cool and also really nice to us smaller ones, so I've always liked the name. Also like Mia very much, or is that too popular (I have no idea) ?

LeeMiller · 02/10/2018 21:38

Lois, Nina and Lara are all lovely and underused.

I also like Mina, Lana and Lorna.

WitBeyondMeasure · 02/10/2018 20:39

Alice

daisypond · 02/10/2018 20:37

Nina and Zara are my favourites.
I find Lara a bit bland, and I'm not wild about Lois, though it's fine. I like Erin, but I'd only use it if you have a connection to Ireland.
Bethan is nice, somewhat unusual these days.
Io?
