Sister for Sebastian

Almondbiscotti · 30/09/2018 07:32

My favourite girl name was always Sophie but as my name starts with S my DH feels he would be outnumbered/immasculated by 3 S's in our family. Reasonable?

We have therefore come up with a short list of Camilla (Millie as nn) or Eloise (DH concerned nn may be Ella - would it?)

Would welcome any other suggestions. Our surname starts with a W.

TIA

I know a Sebastian with a little sister called Phoebe.

Crunchymum · 01/10/2018 21:31

Missing the point but why would your husband feel emasculated?

Sebastian and Katya (Kat).

The Sebastian we know has sisters called Francesca (Chessy) and Daphne.

I like Camilla (Millie). Not so keen on Eloise.

Personally with Sebastian (which I love) I’d go for something like Aurora, Aurelia, Violet..

TatianaLarina · 30/09/2018 17:55

Much prefer Camilla. Like Camille too.

I know quite a few but they’re all my age - ie late 40s. I don’t think it’s so common for children.

Eleanor90 · 30/09/2018 17:46

I know a Sebastian and Sophie! They’re lovely together, although I think I agree that Sophia is just a teeeny bit nicer.

I think the initials thing is huge overthinking.

Not keen on Camilla, but I love Camille. Also Eloise, very nice.

I think it's a bit silly of him to feel outnumbered and utterly unreasonable to feel emasculated, especially since you will have equal numbers of men and women in the house!

I do know an Alice nn Ali, though it doesn't flow naturally to me. I don't mind Camilla but I don't love it. I think Claudia is a great suggestion. Other ideas:

Juliet
Rosalind
Lois
Emmeline
Caroline

I love Eloise but I’m biased since it’s DD’s middle name. It could be shortened to Ellie rather than Lou.
Camilla makes me think Parker Bowles and I don’t agree that she’ll be too old/dead by the time yours is old enough to know; we’ll probably have Queen Camilla so the association will be even stronger!!

Sophie is really boring (just my opinion).
Really like Alice, I know a few between newborn and 35 and have never heard it shortened.
Felicity just isn’t my thing but I wouldn’t let BIL’s brother put you off if you love it.

Isntshelovelyisntshewonderful · 30/09/2018 14:43

We have a Sebastian and a Matilda which I think work well together 😊

If we were to have another girl, we like Martha, Rosie or Florence.

Sophie is lovely, as is Eloise. The Eloise I know is called Ellie 90% of the time so worth bearing that in mind as a potential nickname too!

Shadow1234 · 30/09/2018 13:19

Eloise is a beautiful name. (the one I know, gets her name shortened
to Elle or Ellie, never Ella)

Not too keen on Sophie tbh, (too overused for me), much prefer
Sophia, has a nicer sound to it (but thats just my opinion).

Camille?

Almondbiscotti · 30/09/2018 09:30

Love the name Cecilia but it's my mother's name!!! Love Heidi too but DH doesn't. May put Anya to him although we have my sister as Annabelle in our family and DH mother is Anya

I like Camilla. I think the nickname is usually Millie?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/09/2018 09:14

Not keen on Camilla. Eloise would probably be LuLu.
I like Sophie/Sophia the best, it goes well with Sebastian.
Other names;
Jasmine
Heidi
Rosanna
Caroline
Anya

Claudia.

annaojm · 30/09/2018 09:10

The Sebastian I know has a sister called Cecilia. Beautiful name IMO!

blankies · 30/09/2018 08:39

Camilla makes me think posh/royal family, although I do like the nn Cam.
