I like your style! You've included DD's name, DS's middle name, and the names of DD's 2 best friends (male and female)!

Joseph is quite common round here, and I know more than one little Iris and Martha. But no more than one each (or none) of all the others.

deptfordgirl · 28/09/2018 15:00

I know one Jonah, one Martha and a few Irises but I wouldn't say any were over used at all.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/09/2018 13:03

I know quite a few Joseph's but other than that no.

Love Moses (if only it went with my surname I would use it in a hearbeat)

Kezebel · 28/09/2018 07:19

Beautiful names! Unless you are German, Austrian, spell it as Joseph. Josef will spend his whole life correcting the spelling of his name if in the UK.

Artofpretending · 28/09/2018 07:18

I don’t know any (teacher) except an adult Pippa short for Philippa.

Yellowsunredroses · 28/09/2018 07:16

The ones that are especially popular near me are Joseph, Jesse, iris, pippa and Stella

Sunflower321 · 28/09/2018 07:16

But by avoiding an already trendy name you can reduce the risk.

Yellowsunredroses · 28/09/2018 07:15

In London these names are quite common. I think the danger is if you pick a name wanting it to be unique and then there are 3 in their class you’ll be disappointed.

Best approach is always just go for a name you love and not worry about how popular it it.

Sunflower321 · 28/09/2018 07:10

Quinn is great for s boy. More boys named Quinn than girls according to that link.

mathanxiety · 28/09/2018 04:38

You couldnn't throw a brick without beaning a little Quinn around here. (To paraphrase PG Wodehouse).

There are quite a few Pipers too, and Marthas.

The rest, no.
This is a good thing in the case of Effie.
Does nobody else's mind drift straight to 'effing' when they hear this name?

moredoll · 28/09/2018 04:18

Don't like your boys' names, sorry.
Jude?

Piper for a girl.
I like Quinn, but it's a boy's name to me.

LordOfTheFleas · 27/09/2018 23:13

I only know an Etta, an Iris and a Pippa out of those. I wouldn't say any of them are overused at the moment. Not so keen on Etta personally but that's just me.

sophiec123 · 27/09/2018 23:10

Nope!

LOVE Effie!

Cosmoa · 27/09/2018 23:10

Use the tool in the article link above to find out how many were given the name last year and previous years!

Eleanor90 · 27/09/2018 22:50

Nope. The only ones I know multiples of are Iris and Juno.

Heartofglass12345 · 27/09/2018 22:40

I love iris 😀 I don't think any of them are hugely common, but they aren't weird either 😊

Sunflower321 · 27/09/2018 22:40

I really like Stella and Emmett!

The only popular/overused ones are Josef and Martha.

Quinn is a boys name to me, I know quite a few boys named Quinn, often a nickname for Quentin.

skankingpiglet · 27/09/2018 22:07

I know 2 girls with the name Iris (10 and 7yo), a Martha (4yo), and a Piper (4yo). I also know a couple of Josephs, although no Josefs.

None are hugely popular IMO and I think with most you'd be very unlucky to get another in DC's class. Emmett was our choice of boy's name if we'd had one Smile

piggie88 · 27/09/2018 21:47

I’ve never known anyone with any of those names. I love Etta!

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 27/09/2018 21:43

Jonah seems to be gaining in popularity, I know a few that are babies. I only know adult Marthas and Pippas plus quite a few Josephs. Never met anyone with any of your other names.

Bosabosa · 27/09/2018 21:42

These are rare aren’t they? Except Martha/ seems to have had a resurgence in the last few years.
I know one baby who is Etta-
Beautiful name

elizabetter · 27/09/2018 21:39

smallestintheclass the stroppy girl in skins is why I love it, I loved the whole cliched sad girl thing! She was also insanely gorgeous so can’t imagine anyone with the nn not being so

SmallestInTheClass · 27/09/2018 21:22

I know Marthas but none of the others. Effie makes me think of the stroppy girl in Skins, but would have it as a nickname.

PatchworkElmer · 27/09/2018 21:21

I know one Emmett (in his 20s), and 3 Jesses (1 in his 30s, 2 toddlers).

I also know 2 Effies, and 2 Marthas- all toddlers.
