Emma.

Knew a lot at school in 90s...

Very nineties but there’s seemingly been a resurgence of nineties names recently. I know a baby Sarah and DD (6) has two Jessica’s and a Laura in her class.

Go for it- it's genuinely timeless, and you've escaped the 1990s ubiquity now. It's a great name.

I have an Etta and for some reason she calls half her dolls Emma! She’s only 4 so I doubt she sees it as an old fashioned name.

I have an Emma (2005), in her year there's her and one other.

At primary school she was the only one the whole time she was there.

It's my favourite girls' name, but I never got to use it as I had all boys. It's a short, neat name, it's international, classless, easy to pronounce, classic and has been in use for centuries. I adore it.

I'm an Emma.

It's a bit boring but nobody spells or pronounces it wrong. I went to high school in the early 2000s and there were 8 of us in my year - 7 with the same middle name!

I teach secondary and there are quite a few teen Emmas - one in every class I teach pretty much. I wonder if there was a little Emma surge when Rachel from Friends used it!

That was going to be my baby boys name if he had been a girl and he was o ly born this summer. I think it will still be our name of we have a girl in the future

Go for it. It’s a beautiful name, it’s not overly common at the moment so she’ll probably be the only Emma in her class at school. However it’s still a very well known name so it won’t be misspelled or mispronounced, a big bonus.

I think it’s a great choice, very pretty name.

Still fairly popular round here. There are two 5 year olds in one class with this name at my school. My 7y niece is called this too.

Bit dated in my opinion. It's in the same batch as Sarah, Stacey or Lindsay for me.

It's one of my dd's middle names and I love it. I chose it partly because I have a lot of good friends with the same name!

Emma is a gorgeous name. My cousin’s little girl is called Emma and if we’d had girls and my cousin hadn’t used the name I would have done. I don’t think it’s boring at all.

Not at all dated. Simple, pretty and international. I can see how it might be thought a bit bland, but I don't think that myself, and tbh what we want for our children is a name that will go through life well with them - Emma is certainly that.
