Could Joyce make a comeback?

I personally love the name and it is significant in our family, but I don't want my child to hate it! Could it make a comeback...and when?!

Oh, I think it will. it's a sort of forties vibe to me, and they are surely the next wave of names due a come back. I already know (two different) people with girls named Audrey and Sylvia, which (to me) sound like they are from the same sort of period?

Any name has the potential to come back.
20 years ago I think most people would have laughed at the idea of the name Arthur. Now you can't put a pin head between them and If it doesn't come back fine too. At least she'll be the only one in her class

I like it, though it does make me think of the one who has got to be behind all those deaths in Midsummer Murders. Joyce joins an art class, suddenly three participants are slaughtered. Joyce goes on a spa day, etc.

That weird association aside I think it has a happy sound and could be due a come back. I actually prefer it to Joy. I think Josephine, nn Josie is even more lovely.

I'm sorry, I am another one who prefers Joy however I never could imagine Edith coming back and it has so you could start the trend.... :)

I'd love it to as it was my grandmother's name. Well Adelia Joyce actually but in common with the times she was known by her middle name.

She was born in 1903 .

Why not give it as a middle name?

I actually like the name quite a bit. For some reason I thought it had a root name but I'm not sure what. You know, like how Betty's root is Elizabeth.

It is from my parents' generation (born 1930' and 40s). I don't really find it an attractive name at all, and can't really imagine a comeback

I agree that Joy is much better.
