I personally love the name and it is significant in our family, but I don't want my child to hate it! Could it make a comeback...and when?!

I know a baby Joyce!

parrotonmyshoulder · 26/09/2018 07:41

I know. Do you want it? Someone, use it! I can’t.
(Although pondering a Guinea pig)

Runningishard · 25/09/2018 22:55

Gloria another cracking name parrot

Runningishard · 25/09/2018 22:55

Joyce is a great name. It doesn’t need to make a popular comeback or be shortened or changed OP. Go for it!

Lauren0rder · 25/09/2018 22:52

Ooh no.

parrotonmyshoulder · 25/09/2018 22:49

I love it.
And in the same vein, if I were to have a miracle DD now (no chance), I’d call her Gloria.

JoyceDivision · 25/09/2018 22:41

Joyce is amazing Wink

Waterlemon · 25/09/2018 22:40

I have taught a Joyce, she would be in her late teens now.

I think it’s a great name!

littlebillie · 25/09/2018 22:37

Diana is classical name

Joycelyn

megletthesecond · 25/09/2018 22:21

Ooo, yes.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/09/2018 22:20

Brenda the other day and now Joyce?
Tomorrow Diane or Elaine?

cheminotte · 25/09/2018 21:46

Have you heard of Joyce Grenfell? Look her up on YouTube if not.

cheminotte · 25/09/2018 21:44

I think Joyce is a lovely name and definitely due a revival.
I’m a big fan of girls names that are not just the girl-version of a boys name too.

Lynne1Cat · 25/09/2018 21:29

No, I don't like it. Mind you, it was my late MIL's name, and she was a horrible person.

Why not Josie as a name, rather than a nickname?

areyoubeingserviced · 25/09/2018 21:00

I know a Joyce who shortens her name to Joy.
Joyce is ok but I prefer Joy

TempsPerdu · 25/09/2018 20:56

I could see Joy becoming a popular middle name, a la Grace. Not so much Joyce though - it just feels more dated somehow.

Thighofrelief · 25/09/2018 20:56

What about Josephine? Not Joyce for me, sorry.

DramaAlpaca · 25/09/2018 20:54

It's OK, but I prefer Joy.

MikeUniformMike · 25/09/2018 20:42

Another vote for Joy. as a mn.

ZebraKid71 · 25/09/2018 20:42

Yes! I really like it! I know a toddler Joyce, it's lovely.

Peachbubble · 25/09/2018 20:20

Definitely prefer Joy to Joyce

DaniC18 · 25/09/2018 20:02

I prefer Joy or Josie rather than Joyce.

AnyaMoondial · 25/09/2018 17:17

My friend nearly called her baby Joyce last year. Maybe it’s already on the way up.

Pemba · 25/09/2018 17:05

But Audrey and Sylvia are nice, Joyce isn't. I also like Barbara and Pamela and even Patricia. Imagine they were new names from a different culture, forget the older lady associations, and you'll see they're nice. But Joyce still isn't. Sorry!

glagdy · 25/09/2018 16:20

No!!! AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

(It's my girl choice as both my Grandmas were Joyce. Don't you fucking DARE bring it back.)
