Arianne or Ariana

I really like Arianne but my mum thinks it’s cringe.
She thinks Ariana is “classier”.

What do you think?

Arianne sounds a bit Suzanne, Diane, Leanne, Joanne sort of dated. Ariana is nice but is it Arry-AH-na or Arry-Anna or Arr-yanna

I really don't think there is a lot between the two names. It's not like they are Ariana and Gert. I think they are both a bit naff, sorry. They also seem to be the name of the year.
Oriana is a cruise liner.

Marianne is nice, and so is Miranda.

I love Ariane! I know a lovely girl who usually goes by nick name Ari. Shes stunning so to me so is the name Grin

How would you pronounce Ariana?

Most British prople would, I believe, say it Arri-anna.

But Americans (including Ariana Grande) pronounce it Arri-arna.

And given the immense popularity of Ariana Grande, so the amount that people hear that pronunciation, it could cause confusion as to how your dd's name is pronounced.

We wanted Arianna or Arianna whwbut he was a boy instead. Was. Just as Ms Grande was getting popular too so I feel she kinda put the dampener on it.
Ariane is a princess of the Netherlands

Marianne is gorgeous, one of my favourite names.

Oriana is the name of a cruise ship, and that's the first thing I think of when I hear the name.

I like Arianne. More than Ariana. Even though I have obviously heard of ariana Grande, i didn't think of it in when I heard the name. I think because you always hear her referred to by her full name, not just Ariana.

I do like Marianne as well, but not as much. It sounds more old fashioned to me.

Ariana will be fine eventually (it's a popstar after all, she'll probably disappear at some stage), just not in 2018.

Arianne is actually refreshing compared to all the ee and a ending names about currently.

Yeah I'd agree with above, I immediately thought of Ariana Grande.

Arianne sounds unfinished to me, sorry . It's also similar to Aria which is insanely popular

Argh! I’m sure you’re right about the association with Ariana Grande. But I am from a country where Ariana is a very popular name and I don’t think my mum has even heard of the pop star!
