Hello All!

I'm curious what others think about the name Keri for a baby girl.

I'd like to know what you all think of the name itself and with the middle name Alexandra. My surname is Johnson btw.

Thanks!

I’ve name changed for obvious reasons but I’m a Keri.

Firstly the Hebrew slang term. I once found that online and was literally horrified but no one has ever ever commented, sent it to me or made reference.

It’s like I once heard the Name Greg is a word used in Spanish to mean be sick. I bet if that’s the case no one ever knew.

Secondly, yes I do have to spell it out fairly often but don’t always bother if it’s just giving my name for something unimportant.
But so do Catherine’s / Kathryn’s and Elizabeth’s / Elisabeth’s 🤷‍♀️

OP go for it if you like it, I’ve had positive comments all my life about my name and people always comment on how they like the short spelling

I would prefer Ceri, with the k it sounds a bit dated.

MikeUniformMike · 21/09/2018 19:52

Not keen. Ceri is prettier. Cari would avoid the 'is it Serry, Cherie, Cherry?'

PinkAvocado · 21/09/2018 19:47

Badgers, erase it from your mind! I only noticed it when googling Grin

I still like it

ZebraKid71 · 20/09/2018 20:10

I also like Carrie and Carey.

BabloHoney · 20/09/2018 20:10

I love Keri! I think it’s nice that it’s a bit unusual these days!

ZebraKid71 · 20/09/2018 20:10

Also prefer the Welsh Ceri. Or Cerys. It is viewed as chavvy and dated in my area but I really like it.

BadgersBumhole · 20/09/2018 20:06

Well discovering my name is associated with semen and dated is a bit disheartening 😂

IVflytrap · 20/09/2018 19:59

I like it. I know a wonderful Kerry. I slightly prefer the Welsh Ceri, but Kerry and Keri are both nice too. Yes, maybe it's a bit dated but I'm a little sick of the current set of overly frilly popular girls' names, so a baby Keri would be a breath of fresh air.

Alexandra is a good middle name. Smile

MewithaC · 20/09/2018 19:02

I'm a Ceri. And definitely older than 1980s. Unfortunately outside of Wales it is considered "chavvy" and people feel free to comment on it to me regularly.

Cbeebiesrehab · 20/09/2018 18:29

Very dated imo

daisypond · 20/09/2018 18:24

It's OK. Kiri?

LeeMiller · 20/09/2018 14:35

Alexandra is lovely. Keri is very 80s and nowhere near as classy. Carrie is nice, as is Cerys.

LemonysSnicket · 20/09/2018 14:07

Chavvy

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/09/2018 12:43

I quite like Keri - this spelling only though. I have a friend called Keri (she's 28). I think it sounds sweet on a little girl but agea well. Alexandra is also lovely.

Flyingpigs247 · 20/09/2018 10:41

I love Keri. It's one of those names I'd love to see make a come back.

binkyblinky · 20/09/2018 09:11

I don't like Alexandra at all, I love Keri but spelt Ceri, the Welsh way

bridgetreilly · 20/09/2018 08:57

I prefer it spelled Ceri. But you could also consider Cerys or Charis.

mammmamia · 20/09/2018 08:35

It’s quite 80s but I quite like it. I think it should be a nickname for a longer name though. Not sure what.
I love Cerys
Love Alexandra.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/09/2018 08:30

Oh I like it and It goes beautifully with Alexandra. Yes it's dated but who says that's a bad thing. Do you want her to be 15th Ava/Lily/Isabella/Olivia in the school year group.

Quangot · 20/09/2018 08:12

How about Corinne, Carys, Chloe?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 20/09/2018 06:34

I don't think what PinkAvocado said is actually the meaning of the name though, it just what the word has come to be used to mean in one language which most people you will meet almost certainly don't speak.

I wouldn't let it put you off. I had a friend at school whose name was Keri and it suited her.

PregnantMomma · 20/09/2018 02:36

PinkAvocado, I like Karina 😉

PregnantMomma, I had to google to find that info and I doubt many non Hebrew speakers would have any idea!

How about:
Cerys (love)
Carys (loved one)
Carrie
Karina

Awful
