Names ruined by others?

I've always loved the name Ophelia (pans labyrinth).
While discussing it with DH he said the first thing he imagined was a 14 year old boy "I'll feel ya. . . round the back of the bike sheds." Absolutely ruined it for me.
Anybody else?

I like them both being called Clay and Gray. I know it's the reason most people don't like it, but it's the reason I do like it.
They will be very close in age so I think I'll be shouting "BOYS!" more often than their actual names anyway.
I could still be having a girl yet so it might not matter.

I love the name Verity and had only heard it as a last name until recently.

Violet - Violent - ruined by mn for me

Mark - someone commented to dh once that a mark was a stain left behind, ruined!

George - Georgie Porgie pudding and pie, generally referred to a fat person, mild term of abuse (although I’ve learnt that younger mn-enters don’t Get this connection)

Brits are weird about names supposedly sounding like rude/ridiculous phrases (sometimes the connections are really quite tenuous and far-fetched, see PPs on this thread). I find it rather narrow-minded tbh. Rather like the weirdness about redheads you still hear happening. Other nationalities are much more mature about names.

I was set on Verity for DD2. DH vetoed it as apparently at school his classmate Verity was referred to as Very Titty.

I’m a Lucy and I get called juicy, goosey and (thank my brother for this one) Loo seat.
Never been called a pussy though.

My sister is Isobel and we get to thank my brother again for the nickname ‘Isobel-end’

OP I love the name Clayton but I do wonder if you realise you’ll have 2 sons who will (most probably) be nicknamed Gray and Clay.

I am a teacher so it is very, very rare that I come across a name that doesn't have someone else already attached to the name

You just have to try and detach your potential name from anything else or I never would've come to a decision!

Thanks to the person who pointed out that it rhymes with juicy and pussy and gits in the playground would combine all three.

umm, but Lucy doesn't rhyme with pussy Confused

I also don't get the Isaac rhymes with I-suck, because no-one I know pronounces Isaac with a u sound.

I do find it weird this- 'it rhymes and so you can't use it' thing.

I know loads of Isabelles and no-one says - is a bell really necessary.
Any name can find a rhyming word to go with it surely, and any name can be used in a joke, doesn't mean that is what happens in the real world.

Yep.
Grayson and Clayton.
If it's a boy, it's happening.
Tbh, it's seems weird that in a thread about people being pissy about names people keep mentioning my choice as being all Hmm about it.
I never even asked opinions on my 2 name choices either.
It's mine and DH choice and we're happy with it.
