Charlie vs Charley for a boy

My dh and I thought we had settled on the name Charlie/Charley for our son however we hadn't realised that we preferred different spellings! Both of us feel the other option is more girly... Which one do you think is more boy?

And otherwise any name suggestions? Love Oscar/Oliver but can't use these. Planning to have Jack as a middle name.

I've only seen Charley for a girl and Charlie for a boy... but then i also know guys named Kerry and Tracy so it really doesn't matter!! I like unusual spellings of names!!

Charlie for a boy. I have a female friend called Charley.

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/09/2018 18:09

I've only met boy Charlie's spelt this way

I've met girl Charlie's spelt the same, Charley and Charlee

Sunflower321 · 18/09/2018 17:52

I know a girl Charlie, short for Charlene

cptartapp · 18/09/2018 16:48

I know one of each, both aged 16, I dislike the name but particularly spelt Charley.
Adam, Luke, Benjamin, Elias, Evan, Marcus, Dominic, Isaac, Zachary.

TroysMammy · 18/09/2018 15:44

Sorry wrong use of apostrophe, Charlies.

TroysMammy · 18/09/2018 15:43

Too many Charlie's around these days.

WhereIsMyDressingGown · 18/09/2018 15:42

I've only ever heard Charley as a girls' name. And only Charlie as a boys' name.

For me, Charlie is the dullest of the dull. It's boring and weak.

What about:
Elliot
Albert
Jenson
Noah

MrsRachel85 · 18/09/2018 15:11

We have an Oscar and also liked:

Theodore
Milo
Miles
George
Henry
Elliot
Clark

Agree with everyone else, spelling for a boy is Charlie.

Kidssendingmenuts · 18/09/2018 14:51

Charlie for boy
Charley for girl

balalalala · 18/09/2018 14:34

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of them are probably a bit out there for my taste - I'm a bit more traditional/boring! I do like Jacob and Joshua though.

(Not all to my taste, but thought i'd throw a few ideas out there.

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/09/2018 21:03

How about Nathan/Nathaniel, Evan, Douglas, Andrew or Russell.

balalalala · 17/09/2018 20:54

Thanks everyone! Seems very unanimous! Any suggestions for other names...?

Charlie for a boy!

endofthelinefinally · 17/09/2018 20:50

Charlie boys name. Charles.
Charley girls name. Charlotte.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 17/09/2018 20:49

Charles with Charlie as a nickname. Nobody will spell it Charley, because that's not how it is spelt.

Justtrying · 17/09/2018 20:49

We abbreviate Charlotte to Charley for our dd.

greendale17 · 17/09/2018 20:49

Definitely Charlie for a boy

pineappple · 17/09/2018 20:48

Have only ever seen Charley for a girl, definitely Charlie :)

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/09/2018 20:48

Charlie for a boy. Charley to me is more for a girl. I would actually go for Charles then they can use what they want as an adult, you never know you might have a future judge there!
