Baby is due this week and this is our favourite name.

Does anyone else here have an Elizabeth?

What middle names do you think would suit it?

What are your honest opinions on the name?

I love the fact that there are so many nice shortenings of the name Elizabeth. All of them are lovely.

Elizabeth is my Grandma’s name who I never got to meet, although she was known as Betty rather than Elizabeth. I also love the name itself and always have done.

I have to say I love the short names that have been suggested for a middle name 🙂 Rose in particular!

I love Elizabeth (it’s my middle name).

I think it sounds good with a short middle name, for example:
Elizabeth Ann
Elizabeth Eve
Elizabeth Faye
Elizabeth Joy
Elizabeth Maud

redshoeblueshoe · 16/09/2018 22:09

A beautiful name that does pass the test of time. It was my GMs name, now I wish I'd used it for my DD

Viviolet · 16/09/2018 22:05

dinsoaurkisses you’re right I can’t- especially Grace

Shadow1234 · 16/09/2018 22:01

Elizabeth Grace sounds so elegant.

Do you have any family members whose middle name you would
like to use, i,e, grandmother, mother, favourite aunt. (to
give it that extra traditional feel).

Other suggestions:

Elizabeth-Leigh
Elizabeth-Anne
Elizabeth-May
Elizabeth-Eleanor? (maybe too long)
Elizabeth-Ruby
Elizabeth-Pearl
Elizabeth-Jean

dinosaurkisses · 16/09/2018 22:00

@Viviolet you are right of course, they’re unbelievably popular middle names but you can’t argue they don’t go well with Elizabeth!

Viviolet · 16/09/2018 21:32

I mean no disrespect to pp but please don’t do the Grace/Rose/May as a middle name. It feels like a filler now, equivalent to Louise a few years ago Blush

dinosaurkisses · 16/09/2018 21:29

Fabulous name- lots of strong Elizabeths as role models as well!

I’d go for a short middle name-

Elizabeth Grace
Elizabeth Jane
Elizabeth Rose

Easterbuns1 · 16/09/2018 21:29

I love it because it's what I would class as a "proper" name. Pregnancy number 3 with new partner has made me realise how traditional my tastes are.

Viviolet · 16/09/2018 21:28

I love it, classic, strong but feminine. Also loads of great nn’s (Effy is my fave). Not much help but can’t think of many mms, maybe C/Lara, Willow or Ivy, but agree with pps that it should be short

HairyToity · 16/09/2018 21:26

I love Elizabeth. My favourite thing about the name is all the shortenings. I know a Beth, Libby, Lizzie, Liz, Betty, Betsy and Lily.

Ace name.

dementedpixie · 16/09/2018 21:23

My sister is Elizabeth with middle name Sarah. My dd has Elizabeth as her middle name

BackforGood · 16/09/2018 21:21

Personally I love it.
Proper 'classic' name, easy to pronounce, easy to spell. Gives opportunity for lots of shortenings that are also nice.

I think a one syllable middle name would sit well with it.
