Baby is due this week and this is our favourite name.

Does anyone else here have an Elizabeth?

What middle names do you think would suit it?

What are your honest opinions on the name?

I have an Elizabeth. Don’t want to say which short form she gets as it’s too outing as it’s very rare. She goes Elizabeth in full at least half the time.

Short names are better, I think:

Elizabeth Ann/Anne
Elizabeth Jane
Elizabeth Mary
Elizabeth Rose

Perfect! Nicknames are dreamy - Betsy, Lizzie, Eliza, Beth, Ellie, Ella, lily.... Every little girls dream to have so many lovely names to pick from! It's like she can choose a name for every age! Grin (incase you can't tell, I've always wanted to be called Elizabeth - as a child I launched a passionate campaign to change my name but my parents were having none of it!)

I have an almost one year old Elizabeth Ruby Rose, though she’s known as Lizzie most of the time. All three of her names are after relatives - otherwise I might not have gone for ones that are quite so ubiquitous.

DD1 is Elizabeth Grace. Known as Beth Grace. Love her name.

I'm an Elizabeth and I'm loving it more as I get older. Don't like it shortened though and always have to correct people who, when meeting me, immediately refer to me as Liz. Didn't use it for either of my daughters, but now pushing hard for them to use it as a middle name for their daughters, when they have them.

I have a Grace Elizabeth. Smile Elizabeth is beautiful as a first name though and has loads of nicknames (I love Betty!).

I would keep it classic- it doesn’t matter what is popular in my opinion.

I think it works really well with a one syllable middle name.

I love Elizabeth. If my son had been a girl it would have been his name.

We would have called him Elizabeth Rosalie

I love it. I didn't used to - if I'm honest. Well, it never would have occurred to me to use it for mine. But then i recently met a toddler Elizabeth. Her parents are proper cool (music industry types) and I "got" it- it's classy and not try hard like yoooonique or cute girls names. I don't think these parents shorten it but there's lots of nickname potential too if you do want. I love Betty. Or Libby. Or Liza! Go for it.

I love Elizabeth - it's a classic name and was on my list.

I would think about another family name as a middle name. Lots of names go well with it so it would be nice if it meant something as well.

Elizabeth Anne and Elizabeth Jane would be my favourites.

My 8 month old is Elizabeth Mary Ray after my mum(deceased) step mum and dad.
We call her Lizzy. I love that she will have so many options for name shortening in the future depending on her personality.

I'm an Elizabeth. It's fine. I have no problems with it. I think it's rare for people to love their own names though.

Just make sure you like/can accept Liz and Lizzy though, as she will inevitably get these at some point in her life.

My middle name is Lillian, which I have always liked more than Elizabeth.

I have an Elizabeth and she loves her name and hearing about the women who had it before her.

It also just lends itself to nicknames. As well as some of the traditional ones, friends and siblings also coined things like: Lizzle, Buffy (when she was younger she pronounced herself as Elizabuff) and Boo.

There are more but a bit outing.

It wasn’t my first choice for a girl’s name but I’ve grown to love it far more than my original option in real life.
It’s a wonderful name.
