Anyone here named their DC after a character? Or was tempted to?

DD1 is named after one of my favourite childhood books (which she refuses to read).
I taught a Loki, which I thought was an unusual choice!

I've often thought I'd like to call a baby girl Amelia (after the Joni Mitchell song) or Clary (after the character in the Cazalet Chronicles, although she's actually a Clarissa)

Ex chose the name Luke for our son it wasn't till he was about a year old I realised he was named after Luke Skywalker

I wasn't named after a girl on a TV show s such but it is where they first heard it.

We named our DS after one of my fav female characters, I didn't tell DH that's how I came across the name till a while later though.

I have a Logan who is not named after bloody Wolverine.

He was named after the guitarist of a band we both liked.

My DS name may just have been a ‘little’ influenced by a certain Mr Potter.
My DD was definitely not named after Lara Croft or the Lara in whatever book/film (Dr Zhivago?) but people always ask.

DS is named after a character in a Neil Simon film.

My DSis is named after a character in a film who was hypnotised and regressed back to a former life.

Mine was just one of the most popular names of the mid-70s!

A friend named her DS2 after the pink fella from Spongebob Grin

My name is technically a made up name from a book... I hate it but not because of the book but because it gets mistaken for other names. If I had a girl I always said I would name her Evelyn after the heroine in the Mummy because she's a kickass Librarian. Awesome.

We have a Buffy character, although my DH didn't realise and I was quietly celebrating. We also have a classic romance novel character (well a derivative of the name). Funnily enough her name is also linked to Buffy. I am a massive fan.

DDog is named after a character on One Tree Hill.

I met an Arwen the other day which was a name completely made up by Tolkien.

Arwen wasn't made up by Tolkien. Eowyn was.

Dd and ds1 are both names after characters in my favourite childhood books.

Ds2 is named after my grandad.

All 3 names are minor characters in Harry Potter (coincidently!)

RE - Khaleesi, I think what makes it so dreadful is that it will date the owners’ birth to such a specific time period. When all these Khaleesis are middle aged, anyone can guess that they were almost definitely born between 2011 and 2019.

It’s not like the names from Harry Potter, LOTR or most other book series in that they’re classic or folk names. It’s just a made up word.

@heartofgold GrinGrin i wish I could call her that for a nickname but she's too dainty Confused she's named after the cheerleader Andie. We get a mixed response to it.
